The bruising is rare, but it is normal to have swelling after a hair transplant procedure if your surgeon did not use large dose steroids to prevent it. It should be found in the pre-operative or post-operative handout you hopefully received — and more importantly in your operative consent form. Most of the swelling should […]

Some people might see some hair loss after a local trauma to the scalp, but I can’t explain how bumping your head would cause hair loss weeks or even months later, nor can I guess as to why you’re experiencing burning and tingling that is spreading. I am curious to know what your dermatologist comes […]
We have been performing Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) now for two years, so I can not address a longer time frame. I have seen one patient who had scalp tattoos done elsewhere about 9 years ago and he touched it up often (possibly too often). His scalp took on the appearance of smeared color. The black […]
So to summarize… you hit your head, which caused a bruise, followed by a scab. After the scab came off, you became worried that it would leave a scar and hair wouldn’t grow in that area again. You can’t see a scar, you don’t have a bald spot in the injury area, but you’re paranoid. […]

I had a patient who got mugged in downtown Los Angeles. The gang that robbed and mugged him, held him by his hair, and when they took all of his money and kicked him, broke his nose and cut his face, they pulled out most of the transplanted hair I had done in the front […]

Everytime a person gets a cut or a bruise, the area that is cut or bruised will develop swelling and numbness. The numbness will abate with time. The cutting and/or swelling of small nerve fibers are the cause of the […]
