I am posting this only because I receive similar emails daily from patients all around the world after they have their hair transplant surgery. I want to emphasize I am honored to be sought out for my opinions on hair transplant issues. However, I also want to make it clear that BaldingBlog (or the Internet) is not […]

Had my HT on 19th December 2019. I am 25 years old. 2100 Grafts FUE. Would love to know your opinions on this. If you and your doctor had taken off all of the crusting on day one, you would not have to walk around looking like that or wear a hat. Here is what you […]
It was washed after 7 days. Immediately after surgery. I developed some boils over my head. The clinic says that they do high density hair transplant. They have said that I require 3 sesssions and 8000 grafts to cover my entire scalp. Now only 1st session is completed. They don’t recommend minoxidil and finasteride, it […]
I have terrible scabbing just 3 days after my FUE. I haven’t touched the area, what should I do. Use a surgical sponge to wash it by rolling over the grafts, back to front. If you don’t keep the scabbing away, they form in the first three days and won’t come off for 2-4 weeks. […]
I performed this surgery on this man with 1800 grafts. Note the picture on the left which is one day after the surgery. Because he washed his hair using our washing technique, he formed no scabs (crusts) on the wounds after the surgery. Note also in the after pictures, that the center forelock which was […]
Can you imagine having to walk around like this. The doctor has no sense that there was a technique to wash off the crusts the day of and the day after the surgery. Within 3 days of surgery you should look perfectly normal and able to go out in public without detection. By the third […]
These crusts should be allowed to shed with shampoo regularly, leaving the shampoo on the scalp for 10 minutes and then gently rubbing them until they come off. It may take a few days? but don’t push it. After 2 weeks, the risk of graft loss is minimal. Compare this man on the left 1 […]
You should be washing your hair the day after the hair transplant surgery to keep it clean of crusting. Of course, everything is healed by the 3rd month and washing your hair is good hygiene.
I saw this photo on an internet site where the patient asked how his recipient area looked and why the cracks where there. Clearly the doctor never told the patient how to take care of the recipient area. This poor man will have to walk around for almost a month with this ‘cake’ on his […]
I give the patient a surgical sponge that has no soap in it. The patient then wets his recipient area with softly running water. Any good shampoo can be used with the sponge. Put shampoo into a small bowl of water and then using the sponge, make a lot of suds so that it fills […]
We make a point to wash off all of the crusts and scabs the day and the day after the surgery. Now that you are past 12 days, it is safe to put a shampoo on your head, leave it on for 15 minutes and then gently rub the crusts off. Repeat this twice daily […]
These scabs (crusts) should have been prevented with good washing techniques the day and the day after surgery. Once they form, you run a risk of graft loss until 14 days at which time you can get them out by leaving a shampoo on the area for 10 minutes, getting it water logged, and then […]
Doctors should take charge of the post operative care instructions by teaching patients how to wash their hair on the very next day after surgery. By not teaching the proper technique, patients (like the one in the photo) will have to hide either under a hat or at home for a month until the crusts come […]
You should wait until all of the crusting (scabs) are off and the recipient site has healed before using your turban. If I were your doctor, there would be no crusts because we give our patients hair washes after surgery, so you would be cleared to use a Turban in 10 days without any crusting.
These are scabs (crusts) from the recipient site grafts. They should have been washed off within the first day and the following day after the surgery. Now, you must wait 12 days to remove them. You should leave shampoo on the area for 10 minutes then gently rub it with your fingertips. As the scabs […]
