I‘m from Germany and I suffer from hairloss. I was prescribed fin around 2 years ago. Recently it got worse and I went to a another dermatologist, since I moved places. He told me that he doesnt recommend taking fin and instead take Alfatradiol (apparently it has the same effect as fin but its topical?). […]

I know you’re not supposed to brush wet hair after the shower, but I didn’t know that until today… After I’ve been doing it for years… Thankfully, currently, I have a pretty full head of pretty thick hair and I’m obviously prepared to stop brushing my wet hair indefinitely. However, I’m worried that I’ve done […]
My wife and I caught dengue in Thailand 3 months ago. She started having rapid hair loss two weeks ago and we jokingly said it was probably dengue (it’s a running gag, since that damn thing hit us with a good dozen different symptoms). Joke’s in us; it’s actually dengue. Apparently it’s common to have […]
I’m in need of some help, especially since resources on female hair loss are SO limited and my attempts to reach out are usually ignored. I understand the male’s system of hair recovery, but what about for females? I know rogaine doesn’t promise to work towards the front of the head, and some other medications […]
There doesn’t seem to be a consensus among studies with finasteride’s or dutasteride’s effect on women? Premenopausal women should not take finasteride or dutasteride because if they became pregnant, the baby would have genital developmental problems. These drugs work in about half of post-menopausal women for hair loss.
One question. I was surprised you mentioned beta blockers as a possible cause. Could you point me where I can see if my dose daily for migraine prevention may be why? Also do you know the best source for which meds may or do cause it even if they aren’t readily listed as a side […]
A full work-up with blood tests and an extensive examination is needed ( https://baldingblog.com/common-blood-tests-for-female-hair-loss/ ). Do you have a family history of hair loss on the female side of your family? If you do, then it is possible that this is purely genetic, and if the doctor can’t identify a cause, then we offer scalp […]
This woman had hair loss and went to a surgeon a few years earlier who recommended surgery. Her condition is a clear diagnosis to a doctor with experience, a disease called Fibrosing Frontal Alopecia, which will cause any hair transplant to fail. Although this occurs more in women then men, it does occur in men […]
I have prescribed it for a number of family members. It is a cooling head system that keeps the blood circulation to the scalp low during chemotherapy. On the three family member I recommended using it, none of them lost all of their hair although there was some thinning on one woman with Breast Cancer […]
Female hair loss is complex. We have performed Scalp Micropigmentation (https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/smp-for-women/) on many women with great success. See here for of my writings on female hair loss: https://baldingblog.com/?s=female+hair+loss+blood+tests.
Self image is important giving us confidence if our image of ourselves is positive. A positive attitude with evident confidence is what women generally like best. We all format an image of ourselves and for some men it has to do with hair, others with body musculature and others cultivate the brain. Good women see […]
Nice comment and congrats. Many women with hair loss are not good surgical candidates, but it seems that you were. I would caution many women reading this post to be careful when considering a hair transplant, for hair loss in the female is not like male hair loss.
The only way to prevent shock loss (the loss of your native hair) following a hair transplant is to take the drug finasteride prior to the transplant and then after it for a year or more. When this happens in women, there is no known way to prevent shock loss as the mechanism is different
I’m 24, considering getting an FUE procedure sometime soon. Have you gotten more attention from women with the new hair? Do you feel more confident and has it eased the psychological burden of hair loss for you? Would you say overall it was worth it? What my patients tell me is that they get more […]
This is a common finding in some women, although it is more common as women get older. I have treated many of these women with a hair transplant to put back the rounded hairlines typical of the female hairline. You should be look at my an expert to make sure that you don’t have an […]
