Show Me Evidence that Masturbation and Hair Loss Aren’t Linked!

Dec 10, 2007/by William Rassman, M.D./8 /Hair Loss Causes

You seem pretty sure that no amount of ejaculation can contribute to hair loss. Where is your evidence?

I’m merely saying this because I know for a fact that my bald spot is a direct result of my excessive masturbation. Seeing that I’m only 19 and that the hair loss completely stopped after I stopped masturbating I’d say I have plenty of evidence at least for myself.

Testosterone is converted to DHT through frequent ejaculations…therefore masturbation does in fact contribute to baldness. I’m only 19 and after two years of masturbating 5-7 times a day I already have a huge bald spot on my head so don’t give me any bulls..t and don’t contribute to the suffering of others just because you don’t want your precious masturbation to be seen for what it really is -A dangerous addiction.

In addition masturbating does not relieve sexual urges, it merely feeds them. I haven’t masturbated or had sex for 5 months now and I don’t miss it.

You are a pitiful human being and I hope that one day you realize how big of a mistake you are making right now. You are being extremely selfish and you will have to answer for your actions just like the rest of us.

What can I say? Sexual addictions are addictions. I can not prove a connection between masturbation and hair loss… I just know it in my gut. There is no doubt that people who take high doses of testosterone can become overly sexually obsessed. That is how our biology works. You are correct, testosterone does cause hair loss largely when it is converted to DHT. I would have to do a study isolating hundreds of men who have the balding gene, then get accurate information about the frequency of their masturbation and separate the groups so that the balding would be considered. Then it would have to be statistically significant according to a statistician. I don’t know of anyone willing or driven to do this study scientifically. As this is your focused question, why not resolve the issue with your own study and report it back to me? I will post it if it is a serious study.

I gather from your email that you are also angry and have focused that anger on me. Excess testosterone has been known to cause aggressive behavior in some men. You may have a hormonal problem or an addictive one. In any event, your anger is misplaced. I do wish you well.

Ghandi and the Dali Lama are/were bald and I doubt that they “Launched the Hand Shuttle” often.

Also, if your theory was true ever guy in Porn would be bald due to their excessive “draining”.

I masturbate frequently (up to 5 times a day), yet I have absolutely no anger that isn’t justified. I also have plenty of hair. You’re saying because you’re bald, and because you masturbated, the two are connected. I say that you’re bald while at the same time eating. Therefore, eating causes baldness. There’s your logic in a nutshell.

aaron’s got it exactly right. Here’s the real question. If your theory were true, would you rather have hair and never have sex again, or go bald eventually, while still having sex or masturbating? that’s an easy answer for me.

Andrew is right. Doesn’t everyone want hair to be attractive?

Everyone…thank you for having this stimulating conversation, really. At 36, I now have a pronounced bald spot on the top of my head and as I was perusing naughty sites, came across a link simply titled: Is masturbation bad? Intrigued, I clicked on it and now I’m here. It makes sense that overproduction of this DHT may contribute to hair loss. At 36, I still masturbate about four times per week. I would also like to write that extreme stress is not helping me either, but the masturbation thing makes sense.

To the 19-year-old gentleman…When did you start masturbating? The reason I ask is that I was 14 when I was a career “yanker” and I would do it three or four times a day and I think by the time we’re 19, we’ve peaked so everyone is probably masturbating that many times a day. Do you know if you have the balding gene? I think it’s incredible that you noticed a slowness in the balding. Based on your current masturbation plan, have you seen a full return of hair? Take care and good luck to all of you!!!

Kind of hard on the Dr.
I had an autoimmune disorder some time back and was told by the physician (one of the best) that it was permanent. I said I had a dietary plan to fix it. He was skeptical. 1 year out I was off medication and symptom free. He said it would return. I said I fixed it through dietary measures. He was skeptical. At 5 years out symptom free he began to inquire and ask me. I am now 10 years out symptom free, cured by dietary measures.
The risk when someone sounds certain and carrys credentials is to eliminate what I was able to accomplish. Very little is absolutely certain.
For the record, the dietary measures I developed followed many years of study of physiology, many subspecialties including immunology (monoclonal theory and the such), athletic performance, nutrition and some natural medicine–about 15 years worth daily and intensely.
I am currently working on baldness cure. I have some ideas and am pursing them. It seems to have some clear patterns, but I believe the time frames required for testing a hypothesis out are quite long, which creates a complexity.
To the original writer, did you see a regrowth or not?

    @all
u r all willing here to know the effects of masturbation if done in bad manner it has plenty of advantages n disadvantages the biggest is biological
which is secretion of dht when semen comes out
i am doing masturbation from 6 years excessively around 10 to 20 times a month
    what i got from dis
my hair was very thick n i was having full set of hair n u know wat after 3 years from d start of masturbation
my hairs started depleting from sides n excessive dandruff was originate at rapid pace n most awful thing was the roots were disappearing from d sides making it complete bald spot

it is not much bigger even i can hide both of the spots in the small hairs also

but the most disgusting fact is i was having acnes from 4 years n masturbation is the true cause for it

i advice all of you not do masturbation excessively
do it as it is healthy but do not make it a habit 4 or 5 times is enough in a month
