We are told not to let the medication heat up, and you should realize that humidity could negatively effect its potency. The balance between the drug and the normal course of the hair loss process is very difficult to analyze; however, effective drugs of all types do depend upon low humidity and no increase in […]
The suggestions for storage temperature are standard for drugs. You will always take a risk if you store the pills in a very hot and / or humid environment. Propecia should be kept in a dry place at room temperature… and if you are concerned that your medication may be ineffective due to leaving them […]
Helmets or hats or hot weather do not usually cause hair loss… unless perhaps your helmet is very tight and it is rubbing continuously on your scalp. It is more likely to be genetics than wearing a bike helmet. There is no absolute solution / cure for hair loss, but if it is early genetic […]
I would say store it in the bottle it comes in, and only cut one 5mg pill at a time. The situation you describe sounds reasonable for many people. It sounds like you’re doing the right thing in terms of medication storage. I doubt there would be any problem with the finasteride effectiveness if it […]
While your theory is certainly plausible, I doubt bacteria are causing your scalp to itch. Maybe your skin type does not agree with the higher humidity. Conversely, others may find lower humidity may cause more scalp itching and skin drying. Get a dermatologist to examine you, as a starter.
After the second day, your hair transplant grafts should have firmly set in and humidity/sweating should not affect them (even light exercise). For more on physical exercises after surgery, please see Resuming Physical Activities After Surgery.
hello doc, is oral finasteride more effective than topical one? as i wanna switch from topical to oral and topical isn’t showing much results, also my doctor is saying as topical has various factors like skin ph humidity etc issues of absorption, oral is more reliable. What do you think, should i start oral and […]
Dr. Rassman’s Comments: The following article appeared in Medscape warning of the potential harmful effects of absorption of toxic chemicals when most sun screens are used. Not the only safe sunscreens are highlighted in RED below. This is critical to protect your children from the toxic chemicals in sunscreens. Every patient in a small, randomized […]
Our hair will cycle and grow in different stages, so some hairs fall out while others grow from a stem cell that regenerates the hair follicle. You may be noticing some changes, but you cannot really say with scientific objective certainty what is really happening with just subjective observations or pictures. For example, dry frizzy […]

I am not a drug manufacturer or a pharmacist, so I can’t speak with direct knowledge about pharmaceutical packaging. Silica packet are there to absorb moisture, so unless you are storing your medication in a sauna, it’s my opinion that it would not have much impact on the efficacy of the drug. Normal non-balding men […]
I don’t know the answer to your question. I am sure that the rate of hair growth varies with the individual, their age, their state of health, and the climate. In individuals with miniaturization due to genetic balding, the hair growth slows and may stop growing altogether prior to it falling out.
You could experiment with different shampoos that are made for oily hair. And maybe use a blow dryer (with a wide-toothed brush) on the warm setting long enough to dry your hair.
The average person loses 100-150 hairs per day in the normal daily hair cycle (these hair fall out as they go through the catagen phase). That means that every year we will lose 35,000+ hairs and regrow the same amount from new hair cycles that start up in anagen. As I’ve written before, Propecia doesn’t […]
