Spectral DNC
I’ve seen several ads and comments recently about a new product called Spectral DNC. It claims that it not only works on the back side of the scalp but on the frontal areas as well. It uses a combination of 5% minoxidil combined with Aminexil. Have you done any research on Spectral DNC product and are their claims valid? Have you heard anything about the effectivenss of Aminexil for the treatment of baldness
As far as I am aware, there is no medical research currently being conducted on topical minoxidil in combination with Spectral DNC. There are strict FDA requirements before any product can claim scientific results. Spectral DNC does not have an FDA approval for such claims unless it is piggybacking on minoxidil (which is what most product sales do). Topical minoxidil, however, is an FDA approved product that has limited hair growth potential. Minoxidil is a common ingredient in many hair products. Why pay for all of the added ingredients when it is minoxidil that is going to work (if at all) and at a price far less than Spectral DNC, I suspect.
Aminexil, from my understanding, is not a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved product. That said, there is no way for me to say it grows hair or it does not grow hair. Furthermore, I do not endorse any specific product. I do however, prescribe medication including finasteride (Propecia) only when there is an indication and I have completely evaluated the patient’s hair for miniaturization.
Aminexil is actually approved by the European Union for hair re-growth. I am sure that the European Union Health Agency carries just as much credibility as the FDA. Just because something is not yet approved in North America, doesn’t mean that it is not effective.
Aminexil doesn`t work! Don`t waste your money.
masturbating is beter. calms you down
I really appreciate what John C and Lukas has to say. Lukas, I never thought of using both forumlas together!
I have used the Spectral DNC for AGA and I must say that not only does it work better than Rogaine, it did not cause me the horrible dred shed that Rogaine 5% foam (yes women use the 5% regardless of the the FDA has to say!) The Spectral has an added bonus of causing my exisitng hair to grow faster so I am also gaining length on my hair. I am very excited about the results. I thought I’d do a search and see what other reviews were out on the net and I found this thread. I understand he has to tow the drug companies line.
I appreciate the the work you have done on your site Dr. Rassman.
Please, advice if Spectral DNC will work for Chronic Telogen Effluvium with Seborreic Dermatitis? I have lost 80% of my hair for 1 year and I am afraid to try Rogaine 5% foam due to so many bad reviews and claimed irritation of the scalp. My scalp is irritated enough – itching and burning all the time.
Janet,
How long have you been using the Spectral DNC and how soon you had results?
I’ve been using spectral dnc (and one month spectral dnc-l now) for ten months now – after having hard scalp irritation with several other products. There aren’t any problems with spectral dnc. Hair is growing fast but I do not have much new hair (but being 20 years almost bald).
spectral dnc sucks, im young and tried it out and im not even balding, yet after i used it.. it destroyed my hair.. it does not work, its a scam as im sure any other balding product is.. now im losing hairs where i never was because of spectral
Greetings!…
Im also a pacient of heritaged baldness “thanks ancestors -_-”
I am currently in Spectral.. almost a month now, however i also used it before for a month but tried something esle and came back, therefore officially I have 2 month, but I only count one because I discontinued it… anyway I have High expectations in the formula I am currently experiencing the SHEDDING stage! which is scaring the Cr@p out of me, but I know I must endure, benefits will come eventually, how much time did your shedding lasted??
All this balding this is quite stressful… I see some woman names in this block… and amm according to the Sectral webpage Spectral isnt supposed to be used by women O_o anyway I am now 1.5 months with spectral, I;ve seen mininal shedding now, however i manly applied spectral in my frontal area, and now my crown area need this stuff as well, I guess and going again thru a second shedding :S
I have been using spectral DNC for about 18 months now and I must admit that it does work. After a few months of using it I was about to stop and save my money but a friend commented about how it looked like my hair was growing back. I guess I didn’t really notice it because you see yourself everyday. It’s obviously not a cure to baldness but I am no longer losing any hair and over time it is growing back in areas that were once barren. Great product!
Its me again. About the one year mark. Just got the “new” formula. Results dwindling away as we speak. Total trash now.
Hey Jason. How is it working for you now? Is the new formula working anymore or is it that bad? Thanks.
I have used this product also for few weeks and I had to stop because my hair started to shed so much that I’m officially nearly bold now, I’m so so stressed and don’t know what to do, I can’t continue using the product as I don’t have much hair left, I don’t even know how to go outside, please advice me what to do, am I bold now forever?
Having noticed balding in my crown area around 7 years ago (2005), I wasn’t too big on using Rogaine at the time (non-foam & messy).
About 1 year ago I began using Rogaine Foam, inconsistently (1x/day 5x/week), and 6 months ago became more aggressive, and using is as recommended (2x/day 7x/week).
3 weeks ago I switched over to Spectral DNC, and all I can say is I’m extremely pleased with the results! I wake up every morning and notice my crown area appearing darker, and hair follicles appearing thicker.
As far as shedding goes, their was slight shedding during the second week, but nothing crazy. I noticed more shedding when I tried experimenting with new shampoos, while using Spectral DNC and discontinued that, going back to regular shampoo/conditioner.
The biggest problem you may experience is the smell after your initial use, but you get use to it by the 3rd/4th day. You must remain consistent and be aggressive with treating it (don’t miss or skip a dosage).
One last thing, my hair loss is only in my crown area, and also use a concealer after Spectral to cover the bald spot. Give it time, it works.

if anyone notices, the kind of language used by people who say this product works is similar. often, its the agents helping innocent users buy their product, when in reality its being disapproved by masses.
From all I’ve been reading on this site, I can´t say anything good of it. Everything the readers ask to this doctor Rassman, he answer with an evasive reply. I know that there are a lot of substances in market that claims to be good for hair loss. Some of them are really fake, but others could be a help in fight against HL. This doctor only give obvious answers!! I know that only finasteride and minoxidil have FDA approval. There’s not a reason to say this in every answer you give. When people come here, they do it searching for a good reply to help them to have hope to keep on their fight, not to read that only finasteride and minoxidil have FDA approval! Try to give more hope to yours pacients. Sometimes it is more important than prescribe dozens of medicines.
