Green Tea and Hair Loss
hi doctor
i was wondering about green tea and that if it does indeed affect the 5a-reductase type I enzyme then surely there would be more testosterone that would be converted into dht with the type II enzyme? which isn’t being affected leading to maybe more hair loss depending on which type is more responsible for hair loss?thanks for your time
I do not know of any studies that shows green tea affects 5a-reductase type I or type II enzymes. I have heard of many positive benefits of green tea, but even those claims are not well substantiated to my knowledge. It may sound dismissive or pessimistic, but herbal products are an unregulated field (since they are natural food products). I do enjoy green tea!
Green tea increases the sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)that is used to carry testosterone around the body in bound unusable form. Making it more difficult for some cells to absorb testosterone and it’s by product Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
The epicatechins in Green Tea also promote blood circulation by effectivly thinning the blood. This extra circulation around hair follicles promotes hair (re)growth and strengthing.
But I havnt found a conclusive study on this yet…only in rats
hi,
i am 31 yrs and now i am having the hair loss process and the bald spot started to appear in front of my head. I used to take anabolic hormones for the puropose of gaining muscles, but after the hairloss i totally stopped. My question does the lost hair regrow again by it self naturally or no. Please reply. Thanks.
