Many doctors are afraid of prescribing it because patients who might claim that they are sexually impacted might sue them. I am more concerned about patient welfare and not concerned about law suits. I also have the patient sign a waiver for the use of finasteride which discusses all known and claimed side effects, prior to my prescribing the drug.
How long after a hair falls out does it usually take for another hair to appear on the surface of the skin?! Is it really immediately? Does it take a month?
If you are talking about a transplanted hair immediately after the surgery, it takes between 1-5 months for it to come back and grow. If you are talking about your regular hair that sheds and goes into a sleep cycle, the cycles usually take between 2-6 months as the growth cycles vary between male and female and the age of the person. The younger you are, the more infrequent are the hair cycles and the longer is the growth phase of the cycle.

According to Google Search: “The amino acids present in rice water, in particular, help in the regeneration of hair and aid faster growth of your hair. Also, rice water contains vitamins B, C, and E, which further help in hair growth (7). The best way to use rice water to grow hair is to rinse your hair with it after a wash.Oct 25, 2017″. Since it is difficult to tell, find a doctor who has the HAIRCHECK instrument and then you will know for sure (see here: https://baldingblog.com/follow-haircheck-test-5-years/)
Unique story. I would have to see photos and even better examine you. The diagnosis does not seem right to me and that is why I would need to know a lot more about you to help. Assuming that this is acceleration of male patterned balding, one option is Scalp Micropigmentation which will make your head look like a full head of hair that you shaved. This can be done and if the hair loss can be reversed, there is no downside that I know of. Here is a photo of a young man who lost all of his hair from Alopecia Totalis (an autoimmune disease that killed off all of his hair:https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/bold-shaved-look/#!https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/scalp_micropigmentation-new_hair_institute-147-bold_shaved_look.jpg (his eyebrows are wigs)

Doc, can you write a post detailing the effectiveness of dutasteride vs finasteride for hairline and general thinning if you ever get the chance?
These two drugs work in a similar manner. These drugs are competitive inhibitors to the enzyme 5 alpha reductase, critical to the functioning of DHT. Dutasteride is reported to be 85% effective while Finasteride is reported to be 70% as effective. That does not mean that dutasteride is a better drug, with know side effects that may be worse than finasteride like sterility. Finasteride is approved by the FDA for hair loss while finasteride is not.
I’ve been noticing so far that for the past 6 months while on fin my erections have been getting less hard. is this normal or has anyone else experienced this?
2-4% of men taking finasteride will experience some level of ED. The options could be to reduce your dose to half of a quarter of the dose and continue it for 6 weeks at the lower dose, increase it gradually but stop at taking one pill every other day (half the dose is 80% as effective). Alternative number 2, stop the drug
I think that you are focusing on the wrong issue. First, you want to make sure that you don’t have some condition that will kill off your hair like Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia or related entities. Assuming that you do not, and you said you were disappointed with the results of your last surgery as some of the grafts failed to grow, it may be likely that the problem was with the surgical team (including the surgeon who is captain of the ship). Both FUE and FUT in the hands of experienced and well disciplined surgeons and teams, work reliably. As a female, an FUT is a better option for two reasons (1) you don’t have to shave the back of your head and (2) you had on FUT before so the surgeon can work in the same place and if there is a scar there, the surgeon can remove it at the time of the next surgery. This time get the right surgeon to do the right job, with FUT or if you are willing to shave the back of your head, then FUE works well.
I heard shampooing everyday isn’t good so I am trying to space it out more and do twice a week or so. However, on the off days, I plan to use conditioner but not sure which one. Does conditioner help with hair loss? I never proactively used it in the past so I am not sure. Also how long do you guys keep the shampoo and conditioner in for?
One of the problems that make hair loss of fragile hair worse, it combing and brushing hair that pulls out miniaturized or weak hairs early. The use of good conditioners, solves the pulling problem because the comb and the brush glide through the hairs with less pulling.
