Not Hair Loss News – Eating Fried Foods Once a Week Boosts Prostate Cancer Risk
Snippet from the article:
Eating deep-fried foods, such as French fries and fried chicken, on a regular basis may be tied to an increased risk of prostate cancer, a new study suggests.
Previous research has suggested that eating foods prepared with high-heat cooking methods, such as grilled meat, may increase the risk of prostate cancer. But this is the first study to look at how deep-fried foods may affect that risk, the study authors said.
Researchers examined data from about 1,500 men diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 1,500 men who did not have the disease. The men, who ranged in age from 35 to 74, provided details about their eating habits.
Men who said they ate French fries, fried chicken, fried fish and/or doughnuts at least once a week were 30 percent to 37 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer than those who ate such foods less than once a month.

The article points out that the increased risk may be due to the oils used in the frying process, or just a high fat diet in general.
Uh oh. This research, coupled with the recent article on those balding before 40 are at a higher risk for prostate cancer, means the writing on the (health) wall is very bleak for me…
since a very large percentage of men ultimately end up with prostate cancer, i dont see how they can link it with deep fried foods.

they dont mention the age the men got prostate cancer either, since most men get prostate cancer at the end of theyre lives the study should have been to see if fried foods make men get prostate cancer earlier.
Most men do not get prostate cancer mark. You may be mistaking the high incidence of BPH which is enlargement of the prostate – this is not prostate cancer – which is a deadly condition.
And S – the higher risk of prostate cancer does not mean a guarantee of cancer. There’s a good chance you never will suffer that fate. You can also improve your health chances by eating a healthy diet, rich in anti-oxidants and avoiding carcinogens.
There’s always a risk of cancer in all of us, we can do a lot to minimize that risk. Just like there’s a risk of being killed every time you get in a car – there’s a lot you can do to make it safer.

More than 80% of men will develop prostate cancer by the age of 80.[155] However, in the majority of cases, it will be slow-growing and harmless. In such men, diagnosing prostate cancer is overdiagnosis—the needless identification of a technically aberrant condition that will never harm the patient—and treatment in such men exposes them to all of the adverse effects, with no possibility of extending their lives.[156]
I have a medical science degree, and am well aware of the difference between benign prostatic hyperplasia, and prostate cancer thank you very much. And although 80% has been quoted, many scientists think that the number is actually closer to 100%, but meny never get tested.
You’re correct Mark. I believe I was swayed by the studies that referred to deaths by cancer – not the incidence of technically aberrant cancerous cells that would be symptomless. However I do stand corrected. My apologies.
You have misspelt Australia though ;)
