Did Finasteride Interfere With My Facial and Body Hair Development?
Can finasteride interfere with a young man’s development of secondary sex characteristics, such as facial and body hair?
I ask because I have been taking finasteride for early onset MPB for about two years now, starting when I was 21 (and still in puberty), and have noticed that I still lag far behind my peers in terms of facial and body hair. Also, temperamentally, I am prone to anxiety and depression, and my personality is marked by many “feminine” qualities. I assume that all these things are largely genetic, but I wonder if the lack of DHT in my body could have anything to do with it. By taking this drug, have I prolonged my adolescence?
I hardly doubt finasteride would interfere with the development of facial or body hair, or the prolonging of your adolescence. You should’ve been done with puberty years ago. Your secondary sex characteristics are most likely genetic, like the hair loss.
The fact is hair transplant surgeons are not the right people to ask because their procedure (valued in the many many thousands of dollars) is usually inadequate without finasteride.
I recommend independent medical advice regarding finasteride ie Not anyone involved with hair transplant surgery.
All doctors in the US receive financial compensation for their work. I’m not sure you’d get better knowledge of finasteride from a general practitioner – most don’t even seem to know the link to hair loss at all. Plenty of men have transplants without finasteride so your point is a bit dubious. I think younger men probably benefit from propecia more around a transplant.
There’s a massive difference between the fee for a medical consultation and the fee for a hair transplant surgery “Paul”.
Finasteride absolutely slowed my body/facial hair growth down, although I was unaware of it at the time (it’s a slow, subtle process). On discontinuing Fin it started to come back noticeably around the one month mark. I would say it hindered facial & body hair growth by about 30 – 40% from my own observations.
Thanks ‘Nate’ – so your point is ask someone who knows less about a drug because the doctor who is an expert will, what, tell you you might benefit from the drug?
I’m genuinely confused as to what you think you’re pointing out.
