Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to have many health benefits. But they may have risks as well, including an increased risk for prostate cancer.
In a nine-year prospective study, scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle took annual blood samples from 834 men diagnosed with prostate cancer and 1,393 men who were cancer free. The study, published online in The Journal of the National Cancer Institute, controlled for more than a dozen cancer risk factors.

There’s been many professors who’ve “debunked” this very study as quackery. It’s flawed on many levels, for instance: Where were they getting their omega 3s? Flax, wild fish, suppelements, canned tuna? Why were blood levels used? This only accounts for what was recently eaten, not dietary habits. How signficant was the blood level difference of omega 3s? Come to find out, not very; the list goes on. People in the study with high levels of trans fat in their blood were less likely to get prostate cancer, so what is this study really saying?
