Hair Transplant Review of Norwood 5 Patient Before After Photos
This is a review of a hair transplant result performed at New Hair Institute by Dr. Jae Pak. This is a patient in his 60’s who looked 70’s before he had a hair transplant. His grey hair actually helped with the overall result. Grey hair on fair skin helps disguise the thinning by the low contrast between hair color and skin color. We think that the hair transplant makes him look at least 10 years younger than his real age!
He is currently thinking about another hair transplant versus a SMP procedure for fullness. There is no right answer or choice. Real hair is always better, but SMP is not surgery and there is no recovery with instant results! He may choose both like this patient HERE.
Thanks for posting these. Crucial to show what the results of a HT really look like. For me personally, the result still looks very thin, but glad to hear the patient is pleased.
Hair transplant is about moving hair from one small area on the back of the scalp to a new LARGE bald area. If you are completely bald (or going completely bald), it is impossible to look full since no new hairs are created. This particular patient can come back for more surgery to the front or save the hairs to have fullness to the back. The reason why this patient was happy with the result was because he had a realistic goal and expectation of what is possible and what is not.
Absolutely. Clearly, one of the main jobs for HT physicians needs to be effectively communicating realistic expectations (and screening out folks who don’t have realistic expectations).
