Scalp Reduction to Treat Pseudopelade Patches?
hi, i was wondering if scalp reduction can be used to treat pseudopelade patches?? if not are there any possible cure or remedy for this disease. thanks
Pseudopelade is a scarring type of alopecia that can resemble alopecia areata, but is often ‘meaner’ looking. Similar to alopecia areata, there is no cure, but the disease does go into remission and if it is in such a state, then these patches may support a hair transplant. While a scalp reduction may seem like a good approach to reduce the area of hair loss, I do not generally recommend this type of surgery, as it may leave worse scarring and even more hair loss. It just may make the situation worse. The Hippocratic Oath still holds true here and we must protect your interests at all times.
