Minoxidil Skin Reaction?
Some of the posts on this site about minoxidil frightening! I have used this for 2.4 months and this scaly bumpyness has covered my ears and spread down my forehead to nearly my cheeks. This has pretty much entirely happened in the last 1-2 weeks. It is uncomfortable and looks bad and i hope it goes away! someone said this could be permanent in one of these posts. Any idea here?
More important question: After 2 months of treatment the lymph nodes on my neck front and back have swollen up, mostly on one side. They havent gone down and its been 2 weeks. Also parts of my head are sore to touch – this came on suddenly so i cant be sure if its a reaction or an unrelated medical issue.
Any advice or feedback – at what point do i need to go to a doctor? Thanks
It could be allergic reactions to an ingredient(s) in the minoxidil, but really just from your descriptions alone — “scaly”, “swollen lymph nodes”, “sore”, “spreading” — you should’ve seen a doctor by now. What are you waiting for?
Rash or hives are a known rare, but severe allergic reaction to this medication… however, it’s odd that you’ve been using the medication for months and just started to see these symptoms in the last couple weeks, which makes me wonder whether it is coincidental. Any of these things might unrelated to your minoxidil use, and there could be other medical issues you have to worry about. See your doctor!
Sir,
I’m a 23 year old male and I have been suffering from MPB for the last 1 year or so. It all started when I was diagnosed with chronic hyperacidity (just short of ulcers), although before that, my hair was as thick as rope. With an ayurvedic (traditional Indian) treatment (western medicine was ineffective), which required a diet regimen involving strict exclusion of proteins and several other nutrients from my diet (i’m a vegetarian), which I’m still continuing as my stomach has become over-sensitive to anything apart from that diet, I was able to cure acidity, but my physique and my hair has grown progressively thinner and sparser. I tried minoxidil 5% 2ml one day but it lead to a huge allergic problem involving dizziness, anxiety, racy heart beat and breathing problem (i drink around 15 glasses of warm water and run 5kms a day, in case thats relevant to tell here), which persisted for a week even after taking an anti allergic pill called Stemetil. Then I tried 2%, 1ml every 2 days, and though it did cause some breathing difficultyand chemical taste, the major problem that it caused to me was that it really messed up my stomach by causing constipation, heat in gastric tract, ‘liquidy’ stool, and feverish feeling all the time. I have stopped and tried this thing many times, but it seems that my stomach is extra-sensitive to it. I have tried clobetasol-propionate once too but that thing causes me allergy too. All that I want to know now is that is this medicine most likely to ‘entirely’ mess up the gastric system which i have corrected so difficultly, if i keep applying it, will the allergy/extra sensitiveness go away, and if not, then what should i do to finally cure my balding-related anxiety. Please help me, I feel so bad about being targeted by nature so cruelly.
