Am I Too Old for Propecia or Rogaine?
I had many transplant procedures several years ago. In fact, the last one was about 6 years ago. I have very little donor area left so am considering Rogaine and or Propecia. At 43, is this too late? Also, can I combine the two aforementioned medicines?
Thanks!
The best way to answer that question is to determine just what of your original hair population is still left. If there is some original hair, then Propecia (for men only) may help. Rogaine (minoxidil) may get some of the hair growing when Propecia does not. At age 43, that is still having enough hair or hair ‘buds’ to see regowth from either (or both) of these medications. If you do not try it, you will never know. For a man, I might try Propecia first (for 8 months or so), then add on minoxidil. If you separate the timing for starting each medication, you will know better what is working. Get a good doctor, have him/her analyze your situation and do not treat this blindly. My heart goes out for you, but you need a Master Plan even at this late stage in your process.
