Bald Spot from Dirty Clippers, Part 2
I was wondering if you could get anything that would cause hair loss from dirty clippers. I read one blog but still feel that the answer was not there. I am very sorry to bother you but it is very important to me. I know there is a thousand things that cause hair loss but I have never heard that Dirty or Clean Clippers could cause any of it. Except lice of course! Thanks for responding.
Sincerely, Interested reader
I did answer a similar question before, but perhaps I wasn’t clear. I would highly doubt that dirty clippers could be the cause of hair loss, particularly if it did not cut into the skin by accident. Is your hair loss diffuse, or do your have small patches of hair loss? These are all things one needs to know before assessing the real cause of hair loss. I hope this helps.
About 6 weeks ago i went to a hair salon in the local mall, as the hairdresser was trimming my hair with the clippers(no guards installed)he somehow managed to buzz my head right down to the scalp leaving an inch and a half square bald patch, the skin was very red and irritated also.
Being a patient guy i figured i would just wait until it grew back. Now the patch is twice as big as it was origionally and seems to be growing, it is very embarrasing on a day to day basis, what could be causing it to get bigger? and i am i destined to get hair implants or shave my head completely? I never ever had any hair problems prior to this inccident, and i would really feel better if i thought there was hope that it would grow back.
Okay, I recent notice I had a patch of hair missing from the back of my hair. I thought at first it was do to a bad haircut . I have since gotten my hair cut even lower but the patch still stays and does grow at the same rate as the hair around it . I was told by a friend it could be do to getting a hair cut with dirty clippers or a family thing, But I have had my hair bald and it has always came back . My father has a full head of hair an his over 50. I
For the next person that finds this:
This happened to me too – despite what the doctor said it’s from fungus (often called ringworm but it’s a fungus) aka dirty clippers. Get cream from your doctor or if that doesn’t work oral antibiotics will clear it up though they are tough on the body so docs will recommend trying the cream first.
Oral meds are:
Sporanox, Lamisil, Diflucan, Nizoral and Grisactin.
