Can Someone Donate Their Hair to Me for Transplanting?
People donate kidneys and such upon their deaths. Is it possible for a person to donate their hair?
While technically possible, hair is an organ, so you’d have to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of your life. The health risks involved with taking these medications aren’t worth having this done at this point in time.
How is that any worse than propecia if you get side fin effects?
Also what if the hair is from a family member – maybe you would not need anti-rejection medicine?
Unless you have an identical twin rejection is still possible even from your family and matched blood type (and if it was an identical twin they’d likely have the same hair loss genes as you).
Also, aside from the massive health implications of immunosuppressive anti-rejection drugs one of the most commonly reported side effects with these drug regimens is, yeah you guessed it, hair loss…
The side effects of finasteride (exaggerated or not) would pale in comparison to a lifetime on a complex and expensive drug cocktail to stop your body attacking the hair. For a cosmetic condition it really doesn’t make any sense.
