Child Alopecia
My Grand-daughter has been told she has alopecia she’s only 4 years old. It started at her neck line in the back, it has now started coming out in the front. She has food allegies and she is on a medication for asthma. Can anything be done to get her hair to grow back?
There are a series of genetic alopecias that show up in young children. IF she has one of these condition, she may go on to develop Alopecia Totalis, which in effect causes all of the hair to fall out. This would include eyebrows as well. She needs to be worked up by experts in this field. Your dermatologist should be able to point you to those experts, but if he can not, send me an email (found on the Contact page).
my daughter has bald problems on both sides can anything be done?
Anja,
Any balding problems needs an expert to analyze it and assess its significance. Best is to make an appointment with a competent dermatologist, or if you are in California, I would be happy to see your daughter.
In reference to the 4 yr.old. It is my belief that, Alopecia Universalis would mean, total hair loss, whereas
Alopecia Totalis, refers to total cranial hairloss. I’ve had all three varieties, and am still experiencing the Alopecia Totalis, total cranial loss.
