Could ACell Regrow Hair on Its Own as a Topical?
Hi there, I apologise if this is a silly question, it’s regarding the acell research that is under way at the moment: if the drug has the potential to regenerate cells including hair follicles – would it not be possible to use this drug in a preventative way by applying it to thinning areas affected by DHT in much the same as minoxidil?
The concept with the ACell is that it will stimulate the stem cells that are present in the plucked hairs to produce another mature hair from the plucked hairs. As the original hair will regrow, you get 2 hairs from one if there is a 100% growth of the plucked hair. That’s the idea, anyway. It isn’t a DHT blocker.
Well, hang on a minute here. Dr. Hitzig himself mentioned that he’d seen improvement in the quality of some patient’s existing hairs after an injection of ACell and PRP. You can listen to this interview at http://www.thebaldtruth.com. Also, If I remember correctly, Dr. Cole found something similar in his own research.
While not a DHT blocker, it seems possible for ACell to improve one’s hair through a different, unknown mechanism, similarly to minoxidil.

Yes Dr Hitzig did Mention that Acell+PRP did improve hair thickness, but you forgot to mention that fact that he has to wound the scalp so that the acell will cause adult stem cells to migrate to the site and regenerate the surrounding area including the hair follicle.
The mechanism of action of Acell+PRP+Wouding is neither a DHT blocker (finasteride) or a vasodilator (minoxidil) but of regeneration of tissue by stem cells.
