Could Anxiety and Diet Cause Diffuse Thinning All Over My Scalp?
Hi Doc,
19 male… I recently went to a hair loss specialist to get examined for what I consider DUPA-like symptoms. She looked at me and assumed that my diffuse hair loss of miniaturized hairs all over my head was simply caused by my severe anxiety and poor diet. While it is true that I have had horrible anxiety for a very long time and eat like a pigeon, it seems farfetched to me that anxiety and diet could lead to miniaturized hairs falling out everywhere, even in the permanent zone. Can I trust her, or should I seek out another specialist?
You always have the option of getting a second opinion if you don’t trust your doctor’s opinion. I have not seen a case of diffuse unpatterened alopecia (DUPA) caused by anxiety and diet.
you say you havent seen a case of DUPA caused by anxiety. Can you list a complete list of reasons for dupa? You seem to be the only expert on DUPA in the internet. I checked for many things and they are all fine. But….the anxiety thing…could be my case and maybe of more people…It started after some time of acne changing to oily hair. Then Back to Acne and no more oily hair. Then both. And after some big stress that also returned the oily hair began the hair loss (dupa style) but I was afraid of losing hair because of the oily hair long before it started. Then, after some days of noticing losing hair I had a nightmare of looking at the mirror and seeing me bald. It was probably the most real dream in my life. And I wasnt worried about the hair at that moment because i noticed the loss on one side so I thought it was temporal. Now I am on diet and dont have oily hair but still losing hair. The thing is….who the hell has dupa and is a “normal person”? and doesnt have thyroid problems or diabetes, etc. To the guy who asked, you can look for me searching on google for “Psychology of DUPA”. you will see a forum, maybe you can talk more about your story and we might get somewhere.
