Dutasteride vs Finasteride Half-Life
Pleae keep in mind that you made a very large mistake concerning the half life of AVODART and PROPECIA.
QUOTING: You are correct to state that the FDA has not approved Avodart (Dutasteride) for hair use. The half life of this medication is measured in months, not hours like Propecia.
OFFICIAL DATA REALESED ON DUTASTERIDE.COM
Half-Life AVODART / DUTASTERIDE/ 6hrs – 15hrs
PROPECIA / FINASTERIDE/ 5 weeks
I found the page you’re talking about on the dutasteride.com site. You’re referencing a quote I made in my post from last August, Dutasteride vs Finasteride.
There’s no mistake on my part. Dutasteride.com is not affiliated with the makers of Avodart. It says it right on the bottom of their site — “Dutasteride.com is in no way associated or affiliated with GlaxoSmithKline. Avodartâ„¢ is a trademark of GlaxoSmithKline.” I don’t see how you can claim that it is “official data” if its not from an official source.
Here’s a quote from the official GlaxoSmithKline Canada website (link goes to PDF file — here): “Because dutasteride is extensively metabolized and has a half-life of 3 to 5 weeks, caution should be used in the administration of dutasteride to patients with liver disease.”
Here’s a discussion on HairSite.com about this as well: Dutasteride info
So you see, the dutasteride.com site is incorrect. This may be a typo by those that created the website, reversing the two drugs. I have written to that site and informed them of their error.
Update, June 6, 2006: The author of dutasteride.com just notified me that they have corrected their mistake.
