Experimental Drug VN/14-1 Fights Prostate Cancer
From the Washington Post:
In mice, an investigational agent called VN/14-1 proved effective in treating human prostate cancer, say researchers at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. The five-week study found that daily injections of VN/14-1 in mice implanted with human prostate cancer cells resulted in up to a 50 percent reduction in tumor volume.
It is interesting that research in one area often reveals insight into other areas. Like in the discovery of penicillin, where Scottish scientist Sir Alexander Fleming noticed a mold growing on a Staphylococcus plate and suppressed the bacteria, it could be an observant researcher following a path that could lead to a cure for prostate cancer. Maybe a cure for balding will be discovered in a similar way?
