Female Hairline Restoration After Brow Lift (with Photos)
I have had a higher hairline since I was a teenager. I always hated it. When I had a face and brow lift at the age of 49, the high hairline became even higher. Is there a simple way of lowering it? Is transplanting the only solution?
The photos below are of a 45 year old woman who, like you, had a high hairline compounded by a brow lift as well.
These first 3 photos are surgical pictures because they show what was missing, the deformities that were there and the problem that was tackled before (the middle and right photos were from immediately after surgery):
This next set of photos were taken after this lady’s 2nd procedure had grown in. The black hair and light skin are the most challenging contrast for hair transplant surgeons, explaining why it took two procedures to get the results you see here. She had a total of 3,508 grafts (in two procedures). Note that the side hair and temples were brought forward. In normal female hairlines the temple prominences often extend closer to the eyes than in men, narrowing the amount of forehead shown. Women’s hairlines, because they are rounded, not recessed, and the temples are important for accentuating femininity, make the work more difficult from an artistic vantage point.
The high hairline bothered her greatly after the brow lift and became unacceptable. The brow lift produced a wide scar behind the hairline (compounding the problem). In this situation, a hair transplant is the correct decision because lowering the hairline and filling in the scar behind the hairline can be accomplished with a single procedure in a person with blonde or white hair, and two procedures with someone with dark hair and light skin. The hairline was lowered by 3/4 inch and filling in the brow lift scar was also accomplished in the same procedure. A brow lift usually takes away the possibility of a hairline lowering procedure.
hi i am a 20 yr old female. i have always ahd a high forehead, and when i pull my hair back in a pony-tail it looks even bigger, so i wear bangs. i have had bangs since i was 8 and feel that they look bad and out of date. i want to grow out the bangs and am considering a brow-lift/ hairline lowering procedure. what are the costs on somthing like this, i figure i will need to lower the hair about 1″ from its original position to look normal. Also, do these procedures have any negative long term side-effects? being that i am still young?
I had an endoscopic brow lift approximately 2yrs ago, and now my hair has started to fallout in the area of the endoscopic surgery. I am also experiencing extreme tightness and a burning sensation under the scalp in this area of the surgery with hairloss. What can I do to stop this from occuring? Does this mean that there is nerve damage? Is there medication that I should review with my physcian that could alleviate the painfull sensation under the scalp and hopefully stop the hair from falling out? …Help!
Hi, I’m a 19 year old female and have always been VERY self conscious about my forehead. I’ve had bangs my whole life and for once would like to not hide being hair. I know I have a pretty face, but when I pull my hair back I feel ugly and know that’s the only thing people would notice. For the longest time I thought maybe it was another feature that looked wrong, but I’m satisfied with everything else. Are there any forums for us females who are considering a hairline advancement procedure?
hi im a female 2……i feel ugly 2 when i pull my hai back…i just want an anwser for my forhead….i hate it i really hate it
I am 20 years old. And I have always had a high forehead. It makes my face look uneven and all the attention goes to it. So I cover it up with bangs. I have Curly hair too, so it makes styling my hair with bangs even harder and more time consuming. I wanted to know, if there are any side effects to a Hairline Lowering procedure. And how long and how much would it take to have the full satisfaction of the end result.
I had surgery before to lower my hairline and Im still not happy. So i am looking into hair transplants to lower my hair line. I am sick and tired of bangs and would love to wear my hair back and try different hair styles.
HI, i want to know the lenght of time it took for the patient’s hair to start growing after all the required procedures. Thanks..
Hairline lowering can be performed with two different approaches. The first is a hair transplant as shown in the above patient. The use of transplants have the advantage of establishing a leading edge hairline, even on the temple peaks. It generally takes 6-8 months for the hair to grow. The second hairline lowering technique involves the reverse of a brow lift. The forehead is removed for a distance of as much as 1-1/2 inches, and then moved forward. The results are instantaneous, unlike a hair transplant but a scar sometime appears in the front of the hairline at the new location. This area can be transplanted to minimize the appearance of scarring and we often do them at the same time as the lowering part of the process is done.
