Genetics vs Medication Tug of War
Hello Dr. Rassman,
When a person’s genetics finally wins the tug of war against finasteride or/and minoxidil, will the hairloss then reassume in the form of a slow, steady process, or will the hair maintained by the drugs come off in large amounts within a short period of time?
Thank you for your time.
The genetic progression of hair loss while on these medications (the “tug of war”) would likely be slow, in the order of months or years. It does not happen over a few days or weeks.
the olsen research seems to indicate that upping the dosage of DHT-inhibitors makes a difference. perhaps instead of advising patients who feel their genetics are beating them at the game of hair loss to maintain current dosage, it would be wise to tell them to up the dose or attack the hair loss full throttle with avodart. the hair will never come back once fully miniaturized and the follicle is killed. hair loss causes unbelievable amounts of emotional pain and suffering in men, moreso now than ever!! there are very few popular or likeable balding people anymore (exception: unless they are 100% bald or shave their heads). this is serious.
