Merck, the makers of Propecia, have created a new marketing campaign called The Stunners, which includes 2 commercials (so far) that are wildly amusing. I thought I’d show them for your enjoyment —
I don’t find them amusing. They prey on the insecurity of balding men just like all the other hair loss commercials. Rather than pointing to real benefits of the product they are selling, they focus on giving balding men a greater complex. Furthermore, while women certainly don’t prefer bald men, it is more socially acceptable for men to be bald than women so the ad is misleading.
Everyone has a different opinion of what is humorous and everyone is entitled to their opinion. It is a funny take on balding, in my opinion. I don\’t see it as misleading. Just take it for what it is — a joke.
I think Merck might take some heat for this. Yes the commercials were funny but probably not to a balding woman. As horrible as hair loss is for a man I can imagine it must be 10 times worse for a woman.
These are great! I actually don’t think it is about women’s hairloss at all — that’s the joke. It actually seemed like a clever way to flip the perspective, and I found them funny.

It’s not just “a joke.” It is a commercial with the purpose of increasing merck’s revenues by increasing mens anxiety over baldness.

for one thing those two dudes arent even balding so the whole joke at the end is stupid, the funny part is the dudes reaction to HER being bald.
