I Stopped Laser Treatment and My Hair Growth Benefits Went Away
My hairline is VERY uneven and has always been much higher and thinner on the right side of my head. I would say around 1.5″ higher on the right.
About 2 years ago I had laser treatment that lasted for about a year and it worked for a while (Although it never evened out totally i did notice some new growth). However I was told once new growth started I could cease treatment. I did this and the new hair has died again. I dont think i am losing hair as i have quite thick growth all over, i think its just a birth defect in that area. I’m 25 and it is really affecting my confidence. Should the laser treatment have been permanent? Would it be cheaper for me to have a hair transplant in such a small section? Finally, would a hair transplant be self sustainable or are pills required permanently after the treatment?
Many thanks
If there is a benefit of the laser, it will not be permanent. Remember, hair loss is a progressive process and nothing stops the progressive nature of the process for any long time frame. Sorry to disappoint you.
That can be said of every treatment. Whenever you stop it, or not use it on an ongoing and continual basis, you will slowly lose any gain you received.
I must however disagree with Dr. Rassman’s statement that:

The drugs and treatments (not HT) available today can stop your hair fallout and help you to grow some back.
I have been fighting hairloss since I was 20. Ofcourse, those early years when there was just 2% minoxidil available, I was still losing it, but treatments have come a long way since then.
I’m 43 now. Still got a fair amount up there and in the last 10 years, I have noticed my hair getting better year after year.
I’m confident that I will have a full head of hair for the rest of my days so long as I continue fighting it, and I’m sure most others can too.
To the patient who wrote the question, I would try things like High concentration minoxidil, topical/ oral finisteride and or get back on the laser treatment. I would try all other options before getting a HT.
Good Luck!
