A little over 3 months ago, I posted my concerns about the NeoGraft hair transplantation tool and the fact that it was being marketed to surgeons that had no experience doing hair transplants. Well, now it seems others are finally speaking out.
I have personally tried to get to the company to observe the system in action, but my requests have been ignored by them. Considering that I hold many patents in this field and am a real expert on automation, their disinterest tells me that they don’t want to be observed in action. I would, of course, remain objective and if it is all that it is hyped to be, I would probably want to buy one… but that does not seem to be happening any time soon.
Every since the Neograft machine came on the market, the NeoGraft company has been doing live demonstrations all around the country for years. The company often did as many as four live demonstrations a month. The company continues to do them now once a month in different cities. Any and all doctors are welcome to come and observe the live hair transplant demonstrations. They can call the NeoGraft office to find out when the next closest demonstration will be. The NeoGraft company is extremely transparent and desirous of having doctors see the NeoGraft machine in action, a machine that is of great benefit to the doctor and the patient for FUE hair transplants.
Countless numbers of doctors have attended the live NeoGraft demonstrations and have observed the excellent quality of grafts that are harvested by the NeoGraft machine. With regularity these grafts are harvested with a very low transection rate, they are moist and have sufficient tissue surrounding them.
Furthermore in April of 2010 the NeoGraft machine was demonstrated at the ISHRS Live Surgery Workshop. As with every demonstration for NeoGraft, the doctors were able to assess the quality of the grafts under a microscope. There were over 100 hair restoration doctors in attendance and they saw the same excellent follicles harvested by the NeoGraft machine as the doctors saw in the demonstrations which were done in different cities. The NeoGraft machine had a 9 times lower transection rate than any other FUE device demonstrated at that show. That is a very significant statistic.
The marketing actions of the NeoGraft company do not show that they are disinterested in being observed as you claim in your article. On the contrary the NeoGraft company has been proudly displaying the NeoGraft machine around the whole country for years and continues to do so.
There was obviously a misunderstanding on the NeoGraft company’s part or a lapse in communication on their part that made you feel ignored by them. Please be assured that was not the intent of the NeoGraft company.
As for your comment that you have concern that the NeoGraft machine was being marketed to surgeons that had no experience doing hair transplants, I can assure you that you can put your concern to rest.
There seem to be three important skills necessary to do FUE hair transplants. The first is surgical skill. The second is skill in using the NeoGraft machine. The third is an artistic skill to place the hair properly and create a hairline. The doctors who acquire the NeoGraft machine meet the criteria for all three.
For the first skill, the majority of the doctors who acquire a NeoGraft machine are highly qualified surgeons who do much more serious and complicated surgeries than a hair transplant requires.
For the second skill, the doctors who acquire a NeoGraft hair transplant machine are given an initial intense training on the NeoGraft machine and ongoing training for as long as they need it. The learning curve for doing an FUE hair transplant is much shorter when using a NeoGraft machine.
In addition it is important to know that although some skill is involved in using the NeoGraft machine, the doctor does not need the same level of skill when he is using the NeoGraft machine for an FUE hair translant. The NeoGraft is automated and repeats the same action each time with a precision that cannot be attained by doing a manual FUE procedure.
For the third skill, the doctors acquiring the NeoGraft machine are already doing artistic aesthetic procedures. Learning to do a hair line and making sure the hair is implanted properly are skills that can be learned in a reasonable amount of time.
A great FUE hair transplant outcome is a combination of the automated precision that comes with the NeoGraft machine, the doctor’s ability to learn how to use the machine, and the artistry of the doctor.
