You can always check with the laws of countries you are traveling to, but I have not heard of Propecia (finasteride) being banned in countries. Having a few month supply is different than having multiple unopened bottles that look like you are bringing it in to sell the drug.

I ran that link through Google Translate so I could read it, but I didn’t find anything new there that we haven’t covered before. It says they will reassess the medication next year, which could mean there will be a change to the product label or there will be no changes at all. Any action […]
The choice between an athletic career and preventing baldness seems to be coming up over and over again. Kiwi tennis star Mark Nielsen’s career seems to be heading over a cliff for the same reasons as US Olympian Zach Lund. See New Zealand Herald’s article: Tennis: Nielsen’s career in jeopardy over hair-loss drug
Numerous news outlets have announced a 1 year ban on an Olympic athlete for taking Propecia. The story can be found at NBCOlympics.com, with more info at Yahoo Sports. “Zach Lund, the top slider on the U.S. skeleton team, was banned from the Torino Olympics on Friday for taking a common hair-restoration pill that can […]
I am not sure what you are worrying about. Is it illegal to take Propecia in your country? Propecia is not a controlled or illegal substance. In any case it is ALWAYS a good idea to tell your health care professional what medical issues you have and what medication you are taking. Always tell the […]
Stopping Propecia (finasteride) for 3-4 weeks may produce some early hair loss. I can’t say whether it’ll grow back, if you see any loss at all. I think that the drug may be detectable in your system for some time with the urine testing, just like steroids.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) bans the use of finasteride for Olympic athletes because it can be used to mask steroids. In a 2006 New York Times article, it was written that, “…at the end of 2004 the World Anti-Doping Agency added finasteride to its list of banned drugs in international sports. The agency calls […]
Unless they are specifically testing for DHT blocking enzymes, I doubt you would fail a routine drug test. A routine drug test screens for illegal substances. Propecia (finasteride) is not illegal in the workplace, school, or even the military, though it is on the banned list for professional athletes and for people who want to […]
First of all, you do not need to be taking 2.5mg of finsteride for the treatment of male pattern hair loss. 1mg is the ideal dose. Second, the half life of finasteride in your blood stream is 4-5 hrs. So it should be out of your blood stream within a day, but it may still […]
Propecia does not decrease testosterone. It decreases the byproduct of testosterone known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is what is implicated in male pattern hair loss. Taking Propecia increases testosterone by about 15% and benefit (although not proven) muscle building. Propecia can also apparently be used to mask muscle enhancers. You may recall from the recent […]
I am not familiar with the testing of finasteride in the blood stream or the intricacies of exactly what chemical they are looking in the testing. I do know basic drug dynamics and the mechanism of finasteride. The half life of finasteride is 8 hours. This means if you took it at 7am, 50% will […]
I don’t know if finasteride shrinks a normal prostate, though since it is used to treat enlarged prostate it can be inferred that there is the possibility of some effect. I don’t have any studies to refer to off the top of my head, but there have been many studies done relating to finasteride and […]
Propecia was once banned by in the Olympics and some professional sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency, because it supposedly masked the use of steroids and due to similar theories that you point out, but I would doubt that finasteride will produce significant performance or muscle mass gains. Nowadays, Propecia is not banned in the […]
Here’s the original article from 2006 about US athlete Zach Lund, who was banned from competing in the Olympics due to using Propecia. Well, there’s been an update. Here’s a snippet from the new article: Read the full article: Bald is beautiful for U.S. skeleton star Zach is back in the 2010 Winter Olympics, but […]
If you’re taking finasteride, blood donation is bad for recipient women who are pregnant due to the risk of birth defects… and that is why it is banned for blood donors. I don’t know about tagging the blood in the donation process. Finasteride users are supposed to wait at least a month after the last […]
