Is There a Beta Blocker That Won’t Cause Hair Loss?
In the last 3 months my brush is full of hair. I will go for 3 days and not brush through it to keep from loosing hair! I have tried new shampoos. No luck. I can almost trace this back to when my doctor took me off the blood pressure med I was used to (Metoprolol) and changed it to Topral. I had a really high heart rate and needed a beta blocker that would work. I am now on 200 mg. of Topral a day, which is a big dose, but keeps my heart rate where it should be. (around 65 to 70) So I can’t do without the medicine, which is also time released. My question is: Is there another beta blocker that won’t cause hair loss and is time released? I cannot take calcium blockers. They make my pressure and heart rate go sky high.
Please help! Thank you
It might be a trial and error thing. Put your priorities in order. First, get the medication right for your heart and then learn to deal with any hair impact. Changing your beta blocker (putting you at risk with your heart) to find out about hair (which could take months) does not make sense to me.
I had the same problem, I’m taking beta blocker for my heart because of mitral valve prolapse. I noticed after a few months of taking beta-blocker it triggers my hair loss.
