My Hair is Already Thin and I Will Soon Have Bariatric Surgery
(female)
I have thin hair and soon will have bariatric surgery. I am worried about hair loss. I will follow my doctor to the letter, however is there something else I can do to minimize hair loss?
It seem like you have a conflict in choosing the lesser of two evils — lose weight or lose hair. I do not know the answer to your dilemma.
Bariatric surgery does not necessarily cause hair loss in everyone that has it done, but it is a possibility. I do not know of anything that can minimize that chance, though.
Hello, If you are concern with hair loss after your surgery, my concern would be this. Most often once a person has surgery, they tend to drop their eating portion size limiting the amount of essential vitamins and nutrients. Therefore, this will cause their levels to be off balance a little. If you can, just check with your doctor every 3 to 6 months and have them run test to make sure your levels are balanced. If by chance they are, they can prescribe the vwhatever is need to help you stay balances. This can minimize the amount of shedding that you may notice after surgery.
