Nourkrin, Hair Loss and Hair Regrowth?
Iam a young 50 year old female apart from my hair, which really depresses me. For the last 4 months I have been using Follicle Nutrient Supplement, but it doesn’t appear to be making any difference. I have been to the doctor who suggested Regaine, but I have read about Nourkin and wondered what you thought on this. I will try anything.
I have written much about naturopathic medications that have no science behind them. Their claims are:
- Natural protein and mineral food supplement.
- Clinically proven to reduce thinning hair (proven by whom and where is the proof?)
- Improves the strength of existing hair and promotes the growth of new hair. (Can the hair lift weights that prove it is stronger? Where did the company prove that there is growth of new hair and on who?)
The Nourkrin site claims, “The key ingredient in Nourkrin is a protein compound of marine extracts. This is blended with an organic, soluble silica and vitamin C, making a unique hair recovery programme.”
Ugh.
Enough on this product. There are so many of these types of products that just have no scientific proof to back up their statements, and the makers prey on those like you that will try anything. I hate to be so bold, but you need to be smarter about this and stop chasing these products that may not work. Get your hair evaluated by a medical doctor. Women with hair loss often have a medical condition causing it.
Hi,
I am 46 yrs old and have been suffering with hair loss for the last 6 months, brushing washing etc, fortunatley for me i had a lot of hair to start off with but now it is very thin and dosnt seem to be replacing the hair that i have lost, i have been taking a pill called trisquens for the last year to help regulate my periods as it was getting very bad, could this pill be causing the hair loss?
Thank you
Since my daughter was 9 ½ her hair has been falling out. Her hair used to be lovely thick wavy long hair. At the beginning her hair started to get into poor condition even with conditioner her long hair would be so knotty that I would take ages to section her hair to try to get the comb through it. Her hair kept breaking off so she had a lot of split ends and then with so much hair falling out during washing or just general brushing. At this time she had such a growth spurt and I literally had to get a new pair of shoes for her every month where she was growing so fast. She was referred to the hospital and blood test were taken. After several weeks when every test was coming back normal we were asked if everything was ok at school, and at home and it was then suggested that the hair loss was stress related. We were quite upset by this as our daughter was very outgoing child attending guitar lessons, brownies and a drama and singing school, and my husband, my son and myself have a good relationship. After no success at our local hospital our daughter was referred a very well known childrens hospital in London called Great Ormond Street. After more and more blood tests they found Laurens ferritin levels to be on the low side. We were given a prescription for Ferrograd C iron tablets which she has been on for about 3 years. We also saw a dermatologist in Harley Street who also did blood tests and a hair pull test. He said that the problem was probably because her ferritin was low (around 17).We were advised to give Lauren lots of red meat and lots of vegetables that contained iron and she even ate liver which for a young child to eat was very good, but this was to no avail. We also saw a professor of gastroenterology department to see if she could be bleeding internally so they took a stool sample, this also came back normal. They didn’t want to go down the route of invasive endoscopy as there were no other signs to indicate a problem. Our daughter has just turned 14 she did start her periods at around 9 ¾ we did say to her doctor that her hair loss was worse around a week before her periods started but at the moment we are coming up against a brick wall. The only other thing that was picked up when all these blood tests were being taken was that she produced too much insulin and she did start to put weight on but she was given metformin which helped a little with the weight though we were careful with what she ate as well and each time we went to the hospital and she had got taller and put on weight I explained that we had been careful with what she ate and they knew that we had because with each blood test her cholesterol had gone down and at the last test it was 3. Though she seems to have stopped growing height wise 5ft 6 and her piers have caught up with her, the weight seems to be an issue again. The Doctor at the hospital suggested her being put on a drug called finistrade as another colleague had suggested this but when I looked up on the internet what this drug was used for, side effects and also that so far tests had proven that this drug did not work on women, let alone a 13 year old child we were horrified. I went to my own doctor who confirmed my fears saying that though this was not his field of expertise there were other routes to try. He gave me a prescription for the pill as Lauren had some acne on her face but quite a lot on her back. This did not work on the hair loss or the acne. After 3 months he gave her another pill (dianette) this has helped with the acne on her back but no success with the hair loss.I am due to go back next week for another prescription. In the mean time I have e mailed her doctor a G.O.S hospital because basically we are at our wits end as the hair loss is much more noticeably and a couple of the girls at school have commented on her hair shouting “at least I’m not loosing my hair†to which my daughter burst into tears. The hair loss is more prominent on the temples, around the ears through to the nape of the neck. Though her hair is in better condition that it was, it even has a shine to it the hair loss is still there and it is generally thinner all over than it originally was. Please please help, any information or advise that you could give us would be greatly appreciated. As I have said to her doctor surely she is not the only person in England that this is happening to, and I think that in the greater scheme of things, that when he is seeing very sick children and he is looking at my daughter, who on whole is not medically sick, and she looks well, and is chatty when she visits him, I feel that the novelty of a new case where there is a chance of finding a problem has worn thin as we are coming up against a brick wall and I don’t feel he knows where to turn. Kind regards, Pauline
I found this webpage because I am looking to purchase Nourkin by DermaNova. I used it for several months and it WORKED. Silly me, feeling confident again I stopped using it. My hair is RAPIDLY falling out again!
It is expensive-but I won’t do without it. There is nothing else out there except surgery, that works for women.
p.s. The dosage is two tablets a day. I only used one and still got good results.
