No, finasteride doesn’t stop beard growth.

Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate the daily administration of a standardized nutraceutical is effective in improving visible hair growth, volume/thickness/fullness, and coverage with less noticeable hair shedding for men and women of various ethnic backgrounds. Many self-assessment parameters continued to improve at Week 24 suggesting additional improvement may occur with continued product use.
You have Cutis Verticis Gyrata. which is a medical condition usually associated with thickening of the scalp. People show visible folds, ridges or creases on the surface of the top of the scalp. The number of folds can vary from two to roughly ten and are typically soft and spongy. (Wikipedia)

Well, I guess this puts the scalp tension theory to bed from tressless
This was a complication arising out of a hair transplant performed by unskilled technicians in Turkey. The patient most likely was a smoker. This complication is called ‘Necrosis’ which means in this situation, all of the skin in the area that is now an open crater has died. Fortunately, he either sloughed off the dead skin or a surgeon removed it. I will eventually heal with a huge scar and transplants into the scar may correct the defect after everything has settled down.
I’m 22 and was looking through my old photos. I noticed even as a kid, I had a high uneven hair line. I was also looking at my photos from about 4 years ago, when I first noticed that I couldnt spike my hair up anymore due to my hair thinning on my crown (so the hair on my crown would just fall or not even go up in the first place when I tried spiking it).
The thing is, my hairline is still pretty much the same (maybe a tiny bit higher, but it could just be from maturing). My crown is also maybe about the same, but possibly just a little bit thinner. I can see my scalp through my hair and especially when I use flash, but again its not really that much worse than 4-5 years ago.
It just feels like after 4-5 years it would be more progressed if it is balding.
Is it possible to just have naturally thin hair without actually balding?
Men have hair thicknesses from very fine to coarse. You can inherit very fine hair and have a normal see-through appearance rather than the full look of the coarse haired individual. There are hair thickeners that you can use to make your hair look fuller. Speak with your stylist for the best ones.
I’ve had one transplant to cover my hairline area (FUE 2500 grafts). I’m considering another to do my midscalp, and maybe also my crown at low density. This time I think I’ll do FUT to preserve my donor area as best possible. I’m currently a norwood 4 or 5, and the gene that’s causing this usually results in a norwood 6.
I’m concerned that trying to do the crown, even at low density, may be a bit overly ambitious. How much donor hair should I aim to keep in reserve? I want to be able to do touchups later on when my hair loss progresses.
I’m still in touch with a talented doctor who did a good job in my first operation. The issue is that he’s busy as hell so I want to have a good idea of what to ask when I go for my consultation.
Your doctor can estimate your total donor supply and with real numbers including your Hair Mass Index, then you can pencil out the reserves that are real. Your doctor should do this with you in developing your Personalized Master Plan.
Hi doctor, I know you have many experience about oral minoxidil. Do you know if the hypertrichosis induced by the medication stops at a certain point? The body hair on back/ shoulder for exemple can only grow to a certain lenght? or it will grow as long as leg hair for exemple ? thanks a lot. i was just concerned that the body hair on my back/ shoulder grow to extreme lenght ( like 5 cm) while on oral minoxidil.
It usually lasts as long as you take the oral minoxidil. Hair length depends upon the part of the body as body hair has a different growth cycle than head hair (a much shorter cycle with less hair length). Back hair generally doesn’t grow very long and even on minoxidil it should still not grow to scalp hair length. Maybe you have a different genetic code on your back hair or it is possible that minoxidil is increasing the duration of your back hair anagen cycle making it grow longer.

Conclusion Our findings suggest that long-term dutasteride therapy produces worsening of ED, reduced T levels and increased glucose, HbA1c and alters lipid profiles, suggesting induced imbalance in metabolic function. We strongly recommend that physicians discuss with their patients these potential serious adverse effects of long-term dutasteride therapy prior to instituting this form of treatment.
So many of my young readers have been altering their doses of dutasteride, finasteride and minoxidil (above or below what is recommended by their doctors) so here is a good article that compares them with reports of hair growth tied to the drug and the dose.
This article suggests that minoxidil doesn’t harm the liver. We know that the liver metabolizes minoxidil; however, it appears safe to take it even with a mild fatty liver

Would healing has many phases during the first 3-4 days. Microneedling stimulates the release various platelets, proteins that can activate hair growth, growth factors, stem cells and new vasculature resulting in the formation of new collagen and activation of stem cells which also may produce hair growth along with the healing process. Give is a week to allow this to happen before repeating the microneedling. No one knows how long this should go on.

Both of these articles show the relationship between finasteride and the dose as it impacts the skin concentrations of finasteride. Of course we want to know how much finasteride is getting to our hair follicles, so it is surprising that low doses are getting significant levels of drug at the hair follicle levels
Apparently the Turkish court reviewed the death and made a decision that was not favorable to the illegal practice of hair transplants. Some of the good doctors in Turkey are disappointed in the results of the court hearing. If you are going to Turkey, get a well known and established doctor. You shouldn’t have to die to get a hair transplant! How many have died? I don’t believe we will know the answer to that question.
