I’ve been on 1mg fin a day for a couple weeks now. I read other opinions saying it’s best to wait about six months so you can more accurately assess whether fin is working. But most people on here seem to start minox and fin at the same time. These two drugs have different mechanism […]
Is there a known correlation between patient size, weight, height and appropriate oral min dosage or does it vary regardless you think? I am not familiar with weight or height considerations for oral minoxidil. A dosage between 1.25 and 2.5 mgs daily is the correct dose with the least potential cardiovascular side effects
Frontal reversal is less frequenty than crown reversal. Nevertheless, this man achieved almost complete reversal of his frontal hair loss suggesting that the loss may have been more recent.
I developed a massive shed with Oral Min 5mg. Absolutely disheartening. Shedding indicates that you will respond to the medication. I don’t like the 5mg dose because it has a higher risk of heart side effects. Dosages of 1.25 or even 2.5mg are generally safe and effective. Just stay the line and be hopeful
Doc, do you think reducing the dosage now to 2.5mg would have any negative affect on hair fall or regrowth? Pls suggest I don’t know the answer to that question, but if you have side effects at the 2.5mg dose, then lowering it to 1.25mgs make sense
This is a 39 year old male who used microneedling weekly and minoxidil both for 4 months. Sometimes I wonder how old you can be to get results from microneedling. It seems that 39 is not too old yet. There is clearly some filling in of his frontal hair.
It is clear that the arrow is pointing to new growth. Hair grows at a rate of 1/2 inch/month and these new hairs seem to conform to the time you started microneedling
I have been using Fin for 4 years with pretty good results, added Min to regime but now wanting to stop after 16 months as I’m getting a hair transplant later this year. Hair transplants certainly help with balding, but the medication is what stops hair loss progression of your native hair that is still […]
Is it possible that oral min has an impact on prolactin levels and erectile dysfunction? I swear I started developing symptoms only on oral min and no fin, not able to sustain an erection. Yes, minoxidil can increase prolactin levels in women and impact their menstrual cycle. From what I read, it has no impact […]
Moving from 2% to 5% topical min … will the shedding phase start again? When changing the dose for minoxidil, the shedding phase rarely repeats.
This man is very sensitive to minoxidil and finasteride in combination which has produced almost instantaneous growth. The new hairs look like that are 3/4 inch long suggesting that the growth response to these medications was almost instantaneous. Such a fast response is highly unusual.
I have used minoxidil for twelve weeks and now just started on finasteride. Will my hairline return to its normal shape on the finasteride? The medication restored your forelock, not your frontal hairline in its normal shape. A hair transplant is the best option if you are not satisfied with your nice achievement so far. […]
I started taking oral minox about 7 weeks ago and I can’t believe how well I’ve responded compared with topical minoxidil. This is common as only 40% of men will respond to topical minoxidil while 95% or better respond to the oral minoxidil, see here: https://baldingblog.com/sulfotransferases-and-minoxidil/
This is a young man 22 years of age, with recent loss of the corner hairline on both sides. Men of this age are generally very responsive to drugs and microneedling
