Finasteride (Propecia) mainly works on the top/crown areas of your scalp. It doesn’t really help the front corners or juvenile hairlines. This being said, there are a few men who rarely respond to Propecia. If you choose to take Propecia for a juvenile hairline, it should be discussed with your doctor so your goals and […]

It could be just a mature hairline developing, but I have no way to know that just based on your description. You’ll have to just keep looking at it over time (but try not to obsess about it). You can compare it to the mature hairline photos in this post. If you visited me or […]
In the transition from a juvenile hairline to a mature hairline (like mine), the leading edge often has small vellus hairs in greater quantities than further back. In a transplanted hairline, the leading edge has very few vellus hairs that makes for a hairline with few softer hairs. In men with coarse hair, I place […]
It might just be a mature hairline, but based on your description alone if you have recession in the corners it sounds like you may be developing a Norwood 3 hair loss pattern. That would make your widow’s peak appear more pronounced.
Everyone is different in the way their hairline matures. The balding process impacts that process as well. Send me some good pictures with your eyebrows lifted high so that your forehead shows creases (reference this post in your email). From these, I can tell you what I think. Consider allowing me to share the photos […]
There’s no way to tell. From what you are telling me about your 11 year old brother, the hairlines sounds like a family trait. If and when your hairline rises to the mature position, then you will be different from your brother. Even if you develop a mature hairline, it is normal and does not […]
In general, we do not restore juvenile hairlines or any hairline with high density, especially with one surgery for most patients… perhaps with the exception of young male actors or models that have careers dependent on a specific look. You probably will not see these patients at our website, because many are convinced that their […]
In dealing with hairlines, transplanting a normal hairline just to thicken it is not advisable, as the transplant could damage the existing hair. I have fixed defective looking hairlines on male actors and models who need perfect frontal hairlines for their careers, so I have worked to keep their juvenile hairline intact. For women who […]
It’s not necessarily “normal” for the hairline corners to be weaker than the rest of the hairline, but it could be due to the maturation of your hairline or early balding. Or it could be something as simple as styling product (hair spray, gel) in your hair that is trapping the hairs going through the […]
Without knowing how old you are or any of your medical or family history, it would be impossible for me to say what you might be experiencing. So yes, if you’re concerned you should see a doctor for an in-person examination to help determine what is causing you recent loss. At the very least, you […]
Yes, it is very common to have one side recede faster than the other when forming mature hairline. But rest assured (as you are starting to notice)… the other side usually catches up.
The top most wrinkle crease we talk about is just a rule of thumb that generally holds true on most men. Without seeing your 11 year old hairline with a wrinkled brow, one can not be sure of anatomical points of reference. Of course, not everybody is the same. Some people naturally have a very […]
The hairline you have at birth isn’t an indicator of where your hairline will go as you age. We are all born looking different — rounded corners (Bill Clinton), low hairlines (Sean Penn), etc. These can be changed with a good hair transplant doctor if you do not like it. Receded hairlines generally refer to […]
I would think if you are losing hair it could be considered “hair loss”, but the key is the cause of the hair loss, such as: androgenic (also known as genetic) mature hairline stress related infection related I don’t think labeling something is that important. The important thing is looking at the big picture and […]
Based on the photos I’ve seen (the image to the right and a couple from Google Image Search — here and here), I’d say that Chris Pine is not balding, nor does he have a mature hairline. I suspect this is probably the same hairline he had when he was 12 years old.
