I had 2300 FUE grafts and I am worried about my donor area. Is it over-harvested? Usually 2,300 grafts will not cause over-harvesting unless your original donor area density was very low and/or your hair is very fine. See the link below that defines the limits of FUE. https://baldingblog.com/2017/07/21/many-fue-grafts-many-fues-grafts-one-know-safe-limits/

More and more patients are experiencing over zealous surgeons who take out too many grafts from their donor area in doing FUE. I know that many patients want a lot a grafts so that they can get their hair back as quickly as possible, but pushing the envelope is a real problem as many men, […]
This could be for many reasons, poor surgical judgement, low donor density, too many grafts for his donor supply. He will have to live with this unless he gets Scalpmicropigmentation (https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/)
This was clearly done by someone who didn’t know what they were doing. I feel sorry for the patient who is a victim of the person who did this, probably a non-physician
I am now 5 months since my surgery and I think that the surgeon went high on my donor area and may have over-harvested in this area as I can not see-through my scalp when I cut my hair short. Your donor area may very well be over-harvested and the area on the left side […]
Both of these young men had too many FUE grafts taken from their donor area and now, even with long hair, have what appears to be balding in the back of the head. Longer hair will help, but Scalp Micropigmentation (https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/scar-covering/) usually solves the appearance but doesn’t replace the missing hair in the donor area.
If you have completely healed, you can have Scalp Micropigmentation to address this problem, see here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/scar-covering/. Your problem should be a warning to many men to have their FUE pushed high especially when non-trained people are doing it and don’t understand the math of supply and demand for donor hair nor the necessity to […]
No, the number of harvestable grafts are fixed for your lifetime and depend upon your original donor density which the doctor can measure. That is why we are careful about what we take from the donor area when we do a hair transplant. As the limit for a typical Caucasian is about 7,500 grafts, then […]
The donor area in the average Caucasian male has ~12,500 Follicular Units of which possibly up to 60% can be taken for hair transplants. For FUE without becoming over-harvested, about half of this amount (30% or 3,750 grafts) can be taken with FUE to be safe. The thickness of the hair shaft (fine, medium or […]
?The use of body hair to cover your FUE scars is a terrible idea. The use of Scalp Micropigmentation is the gold standard for this problem, see here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/scar-covering/
The donor area may be over-harvested. You should be examined by an expert to find out. Longer hair will address this or you can use Scalp Micropigmentation to address this as well (more permanent solution, see here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/scar-covering/)
This patient received over 4000 FUE grafts and now has a depleted and permanently damaged donor area. He must wait this out and probably get Scalp Micropigmentation to manage it as I expect this this will be permanent.
A colleague of mine was walking and saw this man. He asked for permission to take a photo of him and found out that he went to Turkey for his FUE. He had two FUE surgeries. What is impressive is (1) the now almost bald donor area and (2) the terrible growth and distribution that […]
There are three areas shown on this patient. Area (B) was a previously FUE harvested donor area which is clearly depleted of hair and will probably cause a see-through appearance, Area (B) and Area (C) is the area the doctor wishes to extend the FUE yo get more grafts out. If the doctor goes ahead […]
