I don’t have the answer to your question. Ten years ago, we were told that the answers would be seen in under 5 years… and now a decade later we hear the same thing. That says much about the real answer. It’s still a big question mark, though there’s some progress being made.

There might be something going on, but given your history of OCD, medication, and stress, without examining you I can not render you a good opinion. If I examined you, I would perform two tests that might just nail the problem. These tests would be: Bulk measurements of your hair in different parts of your […]
In regards to the accidental stem cell follicle discovery, I suppose it depends on the priorities of the researchers on whether they want to switch gears or start another study. It could be that the news of their accidental discovery was made public to garner interest in the project and to take on investors. I’m […]
This is a comment left by a reader in response to Propecia being under patent protection… Maybe you are right, but we live in a capitalist society. I’m not going to make excuses for it. These are for-profit companies and they spend millions (if not billions) of dollars on research and tests to develop new […]
Thanks for sending these links. Each press release speaks for itself. The Histogen press release isn’t specifically about their hair loss treatment (they have multiple products unrelated to hair loss treatment), but the Aderans Phase 2 clinical trials expansion is for hair regeneration. Once the studies have concluded, they will hopefully be published with the […]
For those who freely read on, my position on hair loss has remained constant. There is no cure for hair loss and Propecia is certainly not a cure (though it helps treat hair loss in most men). I recently wrote about the discovery of the hair loss gene pathway you are referring to, but if […]
As I’ve said many times before (which is usually met with much criticism by some readers that think they know better), I wouldn’t hold my breath. We all want to wait for the next breakthrough, the next best thing, the next version, etc. The idea of being able to clone hair for infinite supply is […]
I can joke about your plan, but there really is not much to say. I suppose you can do anything if you are really determined to do it. I am told you can even find instructions to build a nuclear bomb on the Internet. It is your body and if something goes wrong, you can […]
Although there’s enough political tension in the news lately to cause me to not want to delve into policy talk, I can avoid this topic fairly easily as I really have no idea about the political climate for stem cells. While it is an interesting question, I don’t even know that stem cell therapies hold […]
Follica hasn’t been too forthcoming with information. I don’t believe anything has been announced as far as a name, though I’d assume there are some codenames at the very least that they use internally. According to their site, “Follica, Inc. is developing novel therapies for conditions and disorders of the hair follicle“. To me, that […]
It seems like Wnt stimulated follicular neogenesis is hot area of biotech now (Histogen, Follica), but it is something that I do not understand enough to speak with authority. This is straight from Wikipedia, which is sourced from a July 2005 article in the scientific journal Nature: “The Wnt signaling pathway describes a complex network […]
Probably not… but I am hopeful. To elaborate, we are at the infancy of genetic engineering and cloning. We are still striving to find the cure for the common cold, diabetes, cancer, HIV, etc. I think the cure for hair loss is not on the top of the list of what scientists puts their priorities […]
All of your questions and insights are significant and right on. We can not force Aderans to reveal what it is doing. FDA studies in this phase are kept confidential until results are formally released. Yes, Dr. Washenik is the medical director at Bosley, which is one of the many companies Aderans owns. Also in […]
