Click the photo to enlarge: Propecia (finasteride) does not “thicken” hair that is thinning due to medication, but works for those who have thinning due to genetic male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia). The medication does not work to thicken transplanted hair but will often slow down or stop further hair loss. If you have […]

Snippet from the article: Read the rest — Bad hair day? Blame it on your medicine The article mentions that some epilepsy drugs are linked to hair loss and hair curling, antidepressants are linked to hair loss, and some psoriasis treatments are linked to hair color and characteristic changes.
To answer this, I would have to know why you are using topical steroids and for what period of time you expect to use them. For example, when topical steroids are used for psoriasis and applied in short bursts over a three time application, the treatment works well and will not cause acceleration of your […]
Clobetasol is a powerful topical steroid that can thin the skin, thin the hair, and produce a variety of systemic problems from steroid overdose. Withdrawal from this medication can be a problem and you may need to be managed by a good doctor for the withdrawal process. With respect to hair growth, if it does […]
There’s no way for me to answer this question or even take a stab at an explanation without knowing your hair loss history. If you seriously want answers, you need to have your scalp examined by a physician. Sore spots on your scalp could be a variety of things, from dermatitits to psoriasis to acne. […]
At NHI, we have performed surgery on many patients with dermatitis or even psoriasis. Each and every patient is different and if you are interested in surgery, you need to be evaluated by a competent hair transplant surgeon. There are cautions with regard to the pretreatment of active areas of local dermatitis or psoriasis for […]
Finasteride 1mg is for traeting androgenic alopecia (genetic hair loss in men). Beclometasone dipropionate is a corticosteroid that is used to treat skin disorders, like eczema or psoriasis… and is not usually used for treating androgenic alopecia. Do you have a skin disease? Perhaps you should ask your doctor, since he/she is the one that […]
Oh boy. First, the doctor you went to is correct — there is no medication to take for hair loss prevention. Neither finasteride nor minoxidil should be used to prevent something that might not even occur. If you’re losing hair (even in the early stages) that is a different story, but I don’t know where […]
I really do not know what you have other than hair falling out and an itchy scalp. Perhaps you need to see a dermatologist for a good examination. We hear itchy dry scalp and hair loss as a common theme, but it is such a vague symptom it is often hard to pinpoint the exact […]
Clobex (clobetasol propionate) is used to treat psoriasis. Luxiq foam (betamethasone) is a corticosteroid and also used in the treatment of psoriasis. I don’t know why you’d be prescribed these with the goal of growing your hair faster. I have no clue what is causing your hair loss (was it just ripped out??), but perhaps […]
I can’t give you specific advice about what medication is right for you for multiple reasons, but the main one being that I do not even know what you have. What is your diagnosis for the hair loss? Do you have male pattern baldness (MPB), or do you have an autoimmune problem? Propecia (finasteride) and […]
I really cannot give you a diagnosis. But personally, if I have white bumps and raised skin flakes that peel off on my scalp with drastic hair loss that is causing me to go completely bald, I would go see a doctor as fast as I could. Maybe you have seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, a fungal […]
Flaking of the skin from seborrheic dermatitis itself does not cause hair loss, but if the scalp is picked and the flakes are pulled off, then hair loss can be a result of that process (meaning the hair will come off with the plaque). If a person picks on it regularly, that person can develop […]
I am not your doctor, so what I can tell you without examining you is fairly limited. Olux (clobetasol propionate) is a powerful synthetic corticosteroid and with chronic use, can contribute to balding (along with many other issues). It’s generally used as a psoriasis treatment, so I don’t know why you’d be using it to […]
It’s been over 2 years since your chemical burn, but I do not know even if there is a connection between that and the dandruff. The timing of the dandruff onset could be coincidental, or perhaps you’re seeing something like psoriasis. Clobex is a psoriasis treatment. Maybe it’s time to see your doctor again.
