I think you should see a doctor, as I’m not sure how I can help you via the Internet with a simple description. What you’re describing could be an infection or some type of balding, but I have no way to know. Sensitivity and sore bumps lead me to believe it’s something that a dermatologist […]

Yes, you can technically take hair from the crown and put it in the hairline… but if you harvest from the crown, then you’ll have a potentially bald-looking crown. I wouldn’t recommend this being done. For example, let’s say your genetics might just have crown loss in your future, in that case you would’ve had […]
I have seen this type of “donuting” in men who have had transplants in the crown years ago, and then had to face balding around the transplanted hair. The progression of their hair loss causes the crown to continue thinning, besides the permanently transplanted hair in the middle. I do not recall seeing it in […]
Even though some people get good hair growth from minoxidil (Rogaine), the majority of people are like you, getting peach fuzz rather than really good, strong hair. Whether the limited results you’re seeing is wasting your time is up to you to decide.
I don’t quite understand why you didn’t ask your surgeon when you had face-to-face access just days ago. Even after the surgery, he/she is still your doctor and will be able to provide you with a better (personalized) answer. Don’t be afraid to contact your surgeon for questions about aftercare! In general, we advise surgical […]
Snippet from the article: Read the rest (and see the video) — Bald SLC Woman Crowned Beauty Queen This young lady proves that beauty shows through even without hair. I applaud her for her courage.
Generally, men your age will respond to finasteride (Propecia) with regrowth in the crown, but clearly from your email, this was not your case. A good doctor should work with you through the specific logic and goals in your case. Treatment options may include Scalp MicroPigmentation / SMP (as long as you have hair […]
Two crowns…. do you have two heads? The crown is the top of your head. Are you referring to two cowlicks or swirls on your head? If you were born with the genes for male pattern baldness, then you will lose your hair in a certain pattern as described in the Norwood classification chart (see […]
This is a follow-up of a patient we posted about a couple years ago. He recently came in for a visit and we took some updated photos of his crown now that more time has passed since his hair transplant. He had a 3.5″ by 3.5″ very thin area in the crown, which was transplanted […]
Snippet from the abstract: Read the rest — Androgenetic alopecia and risk of prostate cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis Although many authors have investigated a possible association between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and prostate cancer, there is not yet a definitive answer. Patients with any pattern genetic balding did not have an increased risk of […]
While it is possible that you won’t advance beyond a Norwood class 3 hairline, I don’t trust doctors who give eyeball opinions for predicting hair loss. There are some good tests (miniaturization mapping and better yet, bulk analysis) that will tell you with some certainty if you are balding. The decision to take drugs like […]
I suppose anything is possible, but your guess is as good as mine in this case. It is relatively unusual to just have crown hair loss from eczema. In general, crown hair loss for men is genetic in nature. It’s possible that you have genetic balding in addition to the eczema.
The only 2 medications that I recommend are the FDA approved hair loss treatments Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil). If you’ve got early crown hair loss, Propecia is the better treatment… but you should speak to your doctor about this. Figure out what it is you’re seeing in the crown by having an examination with […]
Yes, it could have value if you already have some hair in the crown. Think long term –if you lose all of your crown hair, then the SMP will not work so well, but a hair transplant could solve that if and when that occurs. SMP works reasonably well in thinning hair. If you would […]
Strip scars placed in the true donor area in the back of the head should not impact the location or the size of the crown area. Strip surgery takes up laxity that is there at the time of the surgery. Bending your head should also not impact the crown area. I have never been sure […]
