Some people use both together, but I recommend using one at a time so you can figure out which one is providing benefits. If you see some results from Propecia, you can add Rogaine later to try for a maximum benefit. If you start with both and see results, you’re committing to a lifetime of […]

Maybe you feel better taking Rogaine and that is your now, normal state. Rogaine (minoxidil) does not produce erections.
Weight gain has been reported with the use of Rogaine, but the cause is not known or even proven. “Unexplained weight gain” is listed as a known side effect (see here). Still, 5 to 6 pounds seems quite drastic in a short time span. Swelling of the face can be a sign of an allergic […]
This post comes from Dr. William Parsley in Louisville, KY: Click the photos below to enlarge: After (1 year of 0.25mg finasteride and Rogaine Foam): Before:
You’re saying that even the Rogaine Foam is too messy to apply, leaving you with drips and drops on parts of your head that you’re not intending to apply it to? I haven’t heard that complaint before with the foam, though it was more common with the liquid. Perhaps you’re not rubbing it into the […]
Rogaine is a brand name for a topical formulation of a generic drug named minoxidil meant for topical application to the scalp (for hair growth). It comes in 5% strength for men and 2.5% strength for women and is available without a doctor’s prescription (over the counter). I’ve written about the ingredient differences before here. […]
You’re not alone in being confused about this. I have rarely heard of this complication and have learned that it exists by my extensive reading on the internet. I see more reports online about minoxidil/Rogaine shedding than I’ve seen in my own patients. Some say that it accelerates the anagen stage in the hair loss […]
I wouldn’t expect Rogaine (minoxidil) to regrow either frontal hairlines or hair loss caused by traction alopecia. It’s possible that it could cause hair growth in areas where there wasn’t significant hair previously, though.
I’ve answered a similar question before. I do not believe that Rogaine is bad for your healthy hair. If you have a full head of hair and you use Rogaine, there should be no impact on it… but then, why would someone do that? Apply the medication to the areas that have hair loss. And […]
I couldn’t say if it’ll provide substantial benefits in addition to what you already have seen, but I do know that some patients use both Propecia and Rogaine together to try to maximize their results. If you have the patience and money to continue both, you can give it a try.
Snippet from the article: Read the rest — Lady Gaga Taking Anti-Baldness Drug Judging by photos, it appears that singer Lady Gaga not only has her hair bleached, but that she also wears wigs. Rogaine (minoxidil) is the only FDA approved treatment for female hair loss, so if she is losing her hair from chemical […]
We are prisoners of our words, so I will stick to what I said. If you are in the 15% of good responders, then it moves you into the 100% category (playing with numbers, or course). Some people feel that the Rogaine Foam works better than standard liquid Rogaine drops, because it is easier to […]
If you’re going to use Rogaine Foam, you need to apply it to the areas of the scalp that are thinning. The same goes for the non-foam version of Rogaine. Just putting it on a small spot won’t be effective on the entire area of hair loss. Be sure to read the instructions that are […]
I have heard of cases and have occasionally seen a woman who developed body hair on the chest, between the breasts, near the nipples, and throughout the abdomen and back with the use of high dose minoxidil. When the minoxidil is stopped, the hair usually goes away. This complication occurred most commonly when this medication […]
Nope. Side effects are not proven irreversible from Rogaine and Propecia, but if you don’t want to try either of the two FDA approved hair loss medications, that is your choice. Unfortunately, hair transplantation is the only permanent solution at this point if you do not want to manage your balding problem with medication.
