Plastic Surgeon Specializing in Facial Scar Repair?
I trust your opinion and was wondering if you could recommend me a Dr. that deals with scar revisions on the face or a publication that might rate plastics surgeons who do this type of work.
Kind Regards.
All plastic surgeons can perform facial scar revision surgery. On a simple scar, it is a relatively easy surgery. I do not know of any specific ratings of doctors based on scar revision success.
You need to please keep in mind that all cuts on the skin will result in a scar to some degree. Thus, a scar revision surgery will still produce a scar. While the goal is to minimize the scar as much as possible, this is limited by the individual patient’s propensity to heal well. In other words, scar revision is not solely dependent on the surgeon’s skill or expertise.
Dear Reader:
I, too, have a scar on my forehead due to a car accident. It was 3 years ago that I ‘kissed the windshield’ of my car (lesson learned: wear a seatbelt!) I suffered a severe laceration on my forehead (scar is approx. 6 inches long, starting above the hairline, running down my forehead and through the eye area. I also had to get a skin graft on my left eyelid because I lost so much skin there.)
I live in Northeast, PA and was referred to Dr. Francis J. Collini, a first-rate plastic surgeon in the entire NE United States. He initially operated on me Sept. 29th, 2004 to close the laceration & perform the skin-graft procedure on my eyelid. A few months later, Dr. Collini wasn’t satisfied with the appearance of the scar and suggested scar revision (a “W-plastyâ€). I had the 2nd surgery on December 8th, 2004. The results were truly amazing! Within weeks, the lengthy scar was vanishing before my eyes. I was able to once again recognize that face in the mirror!
I recommend Dr. Collini without reservation! Besides possessing miracle hands, he is a true professional and a kind & caring individual. I guarantee you will be more-than-pleased with the results. You can access his website at: http://www.collini.com. If you click on the “Cosmetic Procedures†link, and then “Facial Scarringâ€, you can read more info. on the W-plasty.
I tracked my progress via photos throughout this “experience” and would be happy to share them with you. Just send your email address to nottigspot@yahoo.com and I will send some pre and post-scar revision photos.
I have scar on my cheek, an unfortunate outcome of a freak accident which took place 15 years back. The scar is about 3 inches in length. Can it still be surgically removed?
