Propecia and Muscle Development
Please Dr., answer this as clearly and thourghly as possible. Does propecia stop muscle growth, slow muscle growth, or effect muscle growth in any way? I am getting paranoid and very anxious with all the different responses on the net. One source says dht is essential for muscle development. I simply just want the truth. Please respond as quickly as possible. Thank You.
To my knowledge and from what I read, Propecia (finasteride 1mg) should not stop muscle growth. I also have not received any complaints about muscle issues from my patients that are taking the drug.
yeah jeff is right, the increased testosterone due to dht blockers will only help in your training. Many atheletes are banned from taking it. HOWEVER, i must say that dht is essential for gentalia growth and function. forget your muscles, worry about having male breasts due to the increased estrogen, (you didnt say your age, but if your under the age of 23) bone closure and lack of growth due to increased estrogen, ED due to lack of dht (a hormone secreted from the testis, possible lack of facial / body hair…..it may even have an effect on anyhting we consider secondary male sexual characteristics like facial hair and depening voice, this is because dht is responsible for these characteristics. The age to take finasteride should certainly be older than 18 because not all 18 year olds have completed puberty. I can also say that manipulating you hormones around has been believed by many reputable scientists to cause cancer. However particuarly breat cancer in women. Manipulating you hormones to treat a cosmetic problem is not wise, however i have spent 100’s of hour convincing my self it may be only to further research finasteride and come to all of these conclusions. DO NOT BE FOOLED!
I’ve heard bodybuilding both increases testosterone and reduces it. From personal experience, I feel like it reduces it while I’m working out, and I have been an avid natural bodybuilder for 5 years now. As far as DHT blockers are concerned, I just started taking a saw palmetto supplement four days ago, and I am wondering if I should even be playing around with hormones like this, even if the supplement is natural. After all, I’m 21 years old and I don’t want any bone closures or an increase in estrogen. Does anyone else who is taking finasteride or saw palmetto notice any of these two major side effects?
