ScalpMed Causing Shedding?
I am a 38 year old mail in good health and good physical condition, however like most men my hair has begun to thin. I saw the infomercial for “ScalpMed” and it looked promising, so I thought…what the heck, i’ll give it a try. Now, my question is this, it appears that I shed more hairs in the morning when I wash my hair (using a a ph balanced DHT reducing shampoo) after using this product. Can minoxidil cause one to shed more hair since I know this product contains this? If I don’t use scalpmed at night, the next morning when I wash my hair I have fewer hairs in the tub– about 14 without Scalpmed, and 20-40 with Scalpmed).
I also would like to make a comment to the medical industry. If one wants to try and find a cure for baldness, maybe they should research the italians or greek bloodline and see why the majority of those men have their hair way into their 40’s, 50’s, if not later years. Maybe they should research those genetics???
Thanks for your time and insight.
It is normal for one to lose 100 to 150 hairs a day. It is also normal for one to be concerned about hair loss and be proactive as you to try with products such as “ScalpMed”. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if these products actually work. That is why most are not sold as medications or FDA approved products. If ScalpMed is causing you to lose hair, I can not comment on it for there is no real information on the issues of safety or effectiveness.
Minoxidil has been studied as a topical treatment and shows good promise of hair growth in some individuals. To date, there are only two medically proven ways to treat male pattern baldness where it is not really ‘hit or miss’.
- Hair transplant, which works 99.9% of the time
- Propecia drug regimen (which may or may not work for you but it met strict FDA requirements) is more reliable, the earlier the hair loss is seen. In men under 30 with thinning and not recession, the reversal in my experience is significant. Reversal of a receding hairline, however, is highly unusual (even in the young man). The key to this drug is to start on it early if you have genetic balding and get to the hair while it is miniaturizing and before it falls out.
To more specifically answer your question, counting 14 vs 20 hairs lost per day seems insignificant (at least from a medical perspective). As stated, we normally lose on the average 100 to 150 hairs a day. ScalpMed may be contributing to the extra 6 hairs that you are losing, but there is no way to really tell.
Finally, the hair loss gene spans all races and cultures. The study of Italians and Greeks has already been done and there it still almost 50% of men in these ethnic patterns that have hair loss.
i have hair on the sides of my head but no hair on top it has been like this for almost thirty years. would scalp med work on a head like mine?
if not what would you recommend at an affordable cost
Im 44 years old male. Im also a doctor(Dentist), I got a recently hair transplant on my front side of head…it is perfect, but my problem is thin hair and many clear spaces between my own hair.Specially when I comb my hair with gel. What can I do to get some volume?
I am person that am completely bald and have been so for about 18 years. I tried Scalp Med just because I had not tried anything in 5 years and I thot since they had a guarantee, I would cash in on the guarantee and see if the new products nowdays are alot better or not.
It definitely is ,though to most if they would see me would laugh, I am getting alot of the velous hairs that are turning into real hairs. I am starting to take this serious. I have a way getting it cheaply at $120 for 2 months so I am not hurting that much. Before no velous hairs at all. I am starting to think about taking pictures. Probably on it 4 months. Can’t seem to stop because hair growth is better every month.
I am searching the internet & other hair forums trying to find corrobation and inspiration from non-corporate testimonies about ScalpMed.
i’m a young woman, turning 20 in a week, and i have a condition known as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). in layman’s terms my body produces more male hormones than female. as a result of this i tend to carry extra weight like a male, and worst of all my hair is thinning out. it’s extremely embarrassing and i really want to keep my hair from disappearing. i already have enough issues with my appearance, i don’t need this making it worse. i’m interested in trying scalpmed but does anyone know if there are some real reviews on it?
how can use the scalpmed
Why someone do not find a method of sewing on synthetic hair omn people scalps. It is strong and will not break, will not turn grey and will not involve medication and side effects. Will someone please explore this possibility.
TO SEW HAIRS RIGHT INTO THE SCALP WOULD NOT WORK BECAUSE OF INFECTION. YOUR BODY REJECTS A FORIEGN SUBSTANCE BEING PUT INTO ANY AREA ON YOUR BODY. IT’S LIKE GETTING A SPLITTER WHEN YOU GET ONE IT GETS INFECTED BECAUSE THE BODY DOES NOT EXCEPT IT. MY IDEA WHICH I THINK THEY DO HAVE OUT IS A SPRYED ON BREATHABLE MEMBRANE THAT ADHESVES TO THE SCALP AND THEN PUT THE HAIR INTO THAT. I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD LAST A LONG TIME. BUT I WOULD NOT KNOW IF THAT WOULD EVEN WORK.
I have had virtually bald temples since I was a little girl and I got made fun of terribly. I am now in my mid 30’s. I’ve noticed that now it’s spreading to the hair line area above my forehead. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried lots of potions and ointments and have considered scalp med. For me, since it’s been going on for so long, would you suggest scalp med or rogaine? once it starts growing in, I don’t want it to fall out again and risk the heartbreak of looking worse.
i have used teh product for 5 months and i dont see no difference in my hair idont know why can you explaing why idont see any difference please sincerrely carlos bustamante
thank you.
yes i am a 20 year old male who used scalpmed for a receding hair line and it made it alot worst do not buy this item if you are trying to regrow frontal balding hair loss
i want to make my hair black ,i need your opinion.
if this product does not work – has anyone got their money back – they do offer a gurantee?
I suggest people do research on \’dandruff\’ on the net and only use natural cleansers like \’apple cide vinegar\’ – i use it every 3/4 days and my hair is dandruff fre now – it natural kills fungus – which causes dandruff.
I had alot of stress 2 years ago for about a month or so-flying to and fro from the UK to Holland and ate and drank alot of tea, soap with salt, coke and chocolate – this was my diet and I ended up with a complete bald patch on my head about 3 inch in diameter and a round shape – which is known as Alocia Aleapa – but diet is THE treatment and a natural one at that – vegan with full minerals and vitamins (not chemical based) but herbal.
The answer is to use the KJV 1611 bible diet in Gensis. After two years of this patch – I started my diet change and am getting some hair growth in the bald patch.

Using scalpmed was the worst decision i ever made in my life! Rather than all the good things it promised about hair growth, the exact opposite was what i got. It also changed the texture of my new growth after total hair loss.
Honestly i was tempted to sue the Company. I pay so much money to destroy my hair. They should be taken off the market!!!!!!!!
waste of money
