Side Effects from Finasteride in Just 4 Days and the Media Has Me Worried
I started taking 1.25 mg of proscar everyday for hair loss and noticed side effects. I took the medicine for four days and experienced nipple sensitivity, erectile dysfunction, and a cold tingling sensation in my penis. I’ve stopped taking the drug and am very concerned because of recent news reports of permanent side effects. Could taking such a small amount really cause permanent problems? Or am I too paranoid and do you think the side effects will resolve in the next couple weeks. It’s been 4 days since I quit proscar.
I think you’re probably being paranoid, but talk to your prescribing doctor about changing the dosage or stopping the medication completely.
In your case, I would worry about the power of suggestion being responsible for these side effects more so than the medication, but if you are concerned you can make the decision not to take it.
Propecia gets a lot of unwarranted press for a survey of 54 men. It’s now got a warning label, fine. We now know. Now, how come nobody pays attention to the fact that a major cause of Erectile Dysfunction are decongestants? I lost all sexual function for 3 days while recently sick, I had no idea! There are no listed side effects thought it’s actually been documented that it causes problems on a long term basis. I just don’t get why Propecia gets all the attention.
There’s also the major defining factor in erectile dysfunction – stress and depression! So being stressed and depressed by hairloss and then stressing about reports of a drug side effects are likely to contribute to the major cause of sexual dysfunction.
Can finasteride cause sexual dysfunction? I think obviously it can. Is it the likely candidate within 4 days of use? Almost certainly not.
I wish there would be more discussion on real cures for hair loss and not the same old same old on finastride. If your really concerned about side affects simple dont take it! Finastride does NOT cure hair loss. The 1 in a million that supposedly have small amounts of regrowth are too few and far between to be acceptable. No one would accept these statistics for other drugs available for other diseases.
I am not bashing finasteride I’m just frustrated its almost 2014 and still no cure in sight for hair loss!
