Side Effects Occur with Many Medications
Just a quick note about Propecia. I have been on it for 15 years. Never had a single side effect. Well not that I’ve really noticed anyway.
Any time you take a medication you have to realize that there are side effects. One of the side effects to Proscar for instance is that it can STOP YOUR HAIR FROM FALLING OUT!!! Get the idea? Birth control pills also has a ton of side effects but almost every girl I know is on the pill… hmmm…
I’m not saying to run out and buy Proscar but if you do, it’s your choice. There’s nothing wrong with educating yourself before taking something but understand that “side effects” are the reason you’re taking it. This is your hair on drugs… Any questions?
Good advice. I think if one actually read all the side effect possibilities in common medications that they think are 100% safe, they’d be surprised.
Nowadays even going outside and breathing poses a health risk.
About cloning hair..forget about it….anything like that is like 30 or 40yrs off if ever in our lifetimes. And if cloning ever becomes a reality, it certainly won’t be used for hair loss, at least not in the early yrs of the introduction of cloning.
Look at all the drugs that can be used semi-effectively for hair loss: minoxidil, finisteride, dutasteride. NONE of these drugs were invented as a hair loss drug. They were all invented for other major health issues and were later found to be beneficial for MPB.
The point is that no drug or therapy has ever been made from scratch targetting only hair loss.
I’ve heard the same old line for the last 25yrs since I started losing my hair at 20: there are billions of dollars for whomever develops a cure for hairloss. The cure will be here within 5yrs.
It’s always 5 yrs away…
If that is true then why aren’t the big pharmacy companies like Merck or Lily etc sinking billions into hair loss research?
Because they’d be basically cruxified by the public for wasting so much money on something cosmetic / non-life threatening…
The common cold can’t even be cured. And more people suffer from colds than hair loss. The thing is, the medicines available today for the cold are good enough not to worry about wasting billions to find a 100% cure…same goes with hair loss.
Why do we only hear about some guy in a Mexican clinic saying he has discovered hair multiplication(scam)…on some teeny weeny company, here today, gone tomorrow, saying they have developed some amazing formula..bla bla bla…
Bottom line..don’t expect a cure in our lifetimes….
Man I feel better now after that rant!! LOL!
The thing is that most side effects disappear with discontinuation, and the danger of Finasteride is that there may be a chance of some permanent side effects.
I know it’s not been clinically proven yet, but its something we are not really sure yet and we must be really careful and informed about future developments., trials, or studies on this matter.
