South Africa Doctor Recommendation?
im from south africa. im 22 years old and losing hair from the front to the back.im busy using minoxidil.its working a little bit but not to much.do you know of any good hair doctors in south africa as good as you for hair implants? i would really appreciate your help. thank you and best regards
Rogaine / minoxidil does not work well for the frontal area, while Propecia does work nicely at preventing hair loss in a person of your age. The effects of Propecia will probably impact the entire head if you catch it early enough.
I do not know of any doctors in South Africa that I could recommend. I always go to the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) website for physician searches, but after such a search there, it did not turn up a doctor recommendation. That does not mean that there are no good doctors in South Africa. If you do find local hair doctors, please remember to conduct interviews with each physician before making any decisions about having surgery. You might also consider coming to the US, but frankly at 22 years old, I would expect that your response to Propecia is worth exploring BEFORE you consider a hair transplant.

I am 23 years old and have been losing my hair since I was 18. I recently have been getting treated by Dr Alexander in Johannesburg. So far I am seeing results. I recommenend him to anyone who has lost or is losing hair. He can be found if you google Dr Alexander Hairloss clinic
I am a 27 year old female. My hair is balding from frontal. I have been using minoxidil and solution B from Dr Kevin Alexander (Hairloss Clinic, Bedfordview). I have been using it for 6 months now (I used it for about 3 months before as well). I have not seen grand results. There are fine, new hairs forming here and there. I have been balding for the last 8 years so I feel I need to give this treatment more time. It does certainly induce hair growth-facial hair as well :(.. LOL.
I, also, use bergamot in my shampoo. It does at least make my hair look and feel healthier. Any shampoo on its own will leave my hair feeling dry.
While the balding area isn’t really improving the rest of my hair does feel thicker. I, also, noticed that my hair doesn’t fall as much.
Good luck!!
Hi
I am a medical doctor specialising in hair transplantation. I, together with my partner (Dr Ress) have been registered with the ISHRS for over 15 years. We each attend the annual congress.
Please check your data base of physians registered with the ISHRS!!!!
Hi I am 22 years old, a male, living in Johannesburg, just want to know what can I use for hair loss front and back in the middle, where can I get the Propecia or Minoxidil in South Africa and how much does it cost.
i have known dr alexander since the 90s, when he was working from a humble practice in orange grove.
with all the idiots, including myself, he has taken advantage of, he has established himself as a ‘hair loss specialist’ in the land of nowhere, where bullshitting is the norm of the day. he is a crook
Hi Mason
I too have been treated by Dr Alexander and I find it totally unfair to label him a Crook. For me personally his treatment has worked wonders. Within 4 months I had regrown about 80% of my hair. Sorry it didn’t work for you but the very first thing the doc tells his patients is that he does not guarantee success for everyone who uses his treatment and even the level of success depends on how well the hair follicles and cells react to the treatment. From what I’ve seen and experienced his success rate is VERY high. He honestly admits that in his many years of treating hair loss, roughly the 5% of his patients have been unsuccessful but what he does guarantee is that even if you are part of that 5% of patients who are unable to grow their hair back, no further hair loss occurs.
I never knew about Dr Alexander until my GP recommended him to me when I wanted a prescription for that Cipla hair loss treatment that was being advertised on TV. I think this shows the strong reputation of the man. And from personal experience I do believe he is a ‘hair loss specialist ‘.
