Switched from Propecia to Generic Finasteride and Now My Hair Is Falling Out
I used Propecia for about 5 years with great results. I had no more hair loss after I started using Propecia. About 7 months ago my doctor told me I should switch from Propecia to the generic Finasteride because it was the exact same thing only cheaper. Now, my hair is falling out in large amounts. Is the Finasteride not working for me or is there a transition period. Should I hurry up and go back on the Propecia.
I would want to know if you store the pills after you cut them (they may absorb water from the air) and if you cut more than one 5mg pill at a time (you should keep it to just the targeted number of 4 or 5 sections). There is no difference between the two drugs other than the strength. I would be curious to know if you are taking the 5mg finasteride or the 1mg finasteride. There are other countries that make 1mg finasteride, which is illegal in the U.S. due to patent infringement. Generic 1mg finasteride is still illegal or does not exist in the U.S.
You must be aware that there is a counterfeit market for generic finasteride, as there is for many drugs, and these fake pills may not really be what you think you are buying. That could explain the observation of hair loss from the generic.
I have had several hair transplants and my donor sites are very thin. I am losing hair from the back and sides around my side burns; is there a newer method that you can use to get more hair other than the inciscion method. I think my scalp is now too tight.
