Too Soon for Miniaturization Mapping 6 Months After Starting Propecia?

Hello Dr. Rassman,
I have been using propcia for 6 months, i was examined for miniaturiation before i started with the drug and my derm thinks its a good idea to take another miniaturization test now to see if the drug is working, do u think that is a good idea? or should i wait a longer before taking the miniaturizaion test because it is a pretty expensive exam. I would love to hear your thoughts?

I do these mappings routinely in my office and do not charge for such examinations. In six months you may see changes at the scalp level, but if you wait another 3-6 months, you should see changes in the fullness of your hair which is macroscopic (can be seen in the mirror). Hair that is emerging from the scalp should have the benefits of a wider, less miniaturized hair, even if the length is not there. This should reflect less miniaturized hairs on the microscopic analysis.
