Is this traction alopecia? No its Triangular Alopecia (Photo)
I have had these bald spots since I was at least 5 years old. My mother said that she did put my hair in tight braids, yet other doctors are telling me that it was caused by tight braids. I personally don’t believe the diagnosis.
This history and the location is classic for a genetic problem called ‘Triangular Alopecia’. It can be easily transplanted, as this is the best treatment for it.
I agree that it fits the history and appearance of triangular alopecia. I have seen some 30 cases in the past 40 years and have retainedphotographs of many. Although they vary considerably in appearance, this would qualify in my opinion. When the lesions are more anterior, the front half of the fusiform patch is missing so the lesion appears “triangular” . Yes the condition responds very well to hair transplantation .
