Will Biotin or Other Vitamins Counteract Propecia?
Hello Dr. Rassman long time reader, first time poster. I am a 22 year old male with a receding hairline and I have been on Propecia since the beginning of December.
My question is this: Along with Propecia I am taking 15000 mcg Biotin and a vitamin called “Complete Omega-3*6*9” (for healthy skin). Is there any way that the these two could counteract Propecia? If there is a questions, I will stop taking the two and continue the Propecia. Thanks for your help on this subject matter.
Also let it be know that I have had many side effects (that have hurt my sex drive) with other prescription drugs. I am currently not on any of those previous medications and I am having no “funny” side effects from Propecia at this state in the game (6 weeks in), and I am actually performing better in bed.
The biotin dose seems high, but I am not an expert on this. I would worry about overdosing the biotin rather than worry about its interaction with Propecia. The Complete Omega-3*6*9 sounds suspicious to me but then again, I really don’t know much about that other than what I’ve read on the Internet. The compound is a naturopathic preparation which is under no FDA control, so issues of safety and effectiveness are a crapshoot. I don’t believe either will counteract Propecia, though.
