Would Getting Castrated Stop My MPB?
Hi i just want to thank you for reading my question, but i want to be taken seriously, and actually im talking seriously. my question is simple:
Does castration stop Male pattern baldness in men? I mean if you castrate yourself youre not going to lose your hair?
Please this is not a joke, I just wanna know the answer.
There was a report of twins where one was castrated at a mental hospital many, many years ago when castration was a treatment for certain mental disorders. The non-patient twin who was not castrated lost his hair, while the castrated twin did not. This story may allude to the thought that castration may prevent the onset of androgenic alopecia, but it is not clear if it would STOP androgenic alopecia (once it has started).
I would not know how one would establish the onset of androgenic alopecia in adulthood. It is my guess you would need to be castrated in childhood (before puberty), which leads me to wonder if eunuchs had issues with balding. They probably had other issues to worry about … or not worry about.
The short answer to your question — No, and I would not recommend trying to find out by castrating yourself.
so if something extreme like castration does not stop male pattern baldness once it has begun, then a drug like finasteride in no way can as well.
Eli
Drugs are approved based on DATA, and the reason finasteride is approved is because DATA shows that it works (in some patients) better than placebo. As of yet, there are no double-blind, placebo-controled trials of patients with androgenic alopecia volunteering to be castrated.
Eli you seem to only post on every story to say finasteride doesn’t work. Then lots of people say it works for them. If it didn’t work for you that’s fine – you can share your experience and its sad to hear but it’s a little strange that you are so desperate to tell everyone else that it doesn’t work. As people point out – finasteride is not a cure – it does not permanently halt hair loss – but it is a treatment and it can and does slow the hairloss and even reverse it in some men. These men have to continue taking the drug for life so its not a cure but it does work as a treatment for many.
Hopefully there will be a cure one day but it sounds as if castration probably isn’t it. I am sorry if you’re struggling with hair loss. Have you tried propecia? What were your results if so? People are mostly interested in helping.
Who says finasteride or dutasteride will stop MPB forever? It will not! All it will do is delay the process for some time and everyone is different. Could be from 2 months to 15 years. Nobody knows.
Castrated? I’m assuming you are talking about Nazi Germany, correct ? Which humane society would tolerate such barbarity?
Frankly I’m shocked that Dr. Rassman or whoever responded to this post didn’t react to this mutilation as I would have expected. Whoever castrated this child should have been imprisioned. This is a crime against humanity. Ever heard of that docs? It’s what the Nuermberg trials were all about. !!
I find it outrageous that this post could remain in this site without serious critic.
Of course I hate all doctors as it is, except for psychiatrists (whom I see) and cosmetic /plastic surgeons. They are miserable people. I had a bad experience with doctors in 1971 as a 13 year old. I hate doctors. Except for those I mentioned. Because the rest are sadists. Barbarians.
